Welcome to the community family Coral! I'm 54, have fibro, sjogrens, & many other chronic pain issues. I didn't lose my job because of fibro, but rather had to quit to recuperate g from 5 in 1 surgeries in 2010. From fibro and other new dx since then in unable to work now. We will have varying dx but we also understand chronic pain. You'll have lots of support here.

Leelee, your comment on "island of misfit toys" actually made me laugh, and I needed that today... Thanks!!

Hugs love & prayers to all! 🙂💕🙏🌸

Hi Coral welcome.
Have you ever tried Nuvigil?? It's a med that for me has really helped with the brain fog and concentration. It a med that the military would give it's pilots when they had to fly ling distances.

Dec 05, 2016 2:23 PM

Hi Coral. I also am new here. I feel like I am wearing water wings and jumped in the deep end with this group. I have very recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but have a host of other what I would call inconveniences compared to what the others here are going through. The pain still comes and goes and is fairly manageable. It is the brain fog that has been troubling me most lately.

Dec 21, 2016 5:00 AM

Wow you all have given Coral such a wonderful welcome. Coral I live with husband who I had separated from. Had to have his support as I had to stop working due to fatigue, brain fog & pain. Pain has been better since I started lyrica. Did not do much for my neuropathy. I am on neuron tin for that. As the weather has changed I've had days not getting out of bed. I get the flu feeling called malaise.

Dec 21, 2016 5:10 AM

I am 60 & I also have fibro Plus it's companions IBS, depression, & more. Feel like I'm at an AA meeting "hi I'm Tamara & I am a FibroGirl..."
Anyway, Coral how are you doing today?

Dec 21, 2016 5:13 AM

Lulabel & JessicaAnne you both are beautiful! How are you all doing with pain?

Jan 28, 2017 4:20 PM

Hi Coral, I am 54 and new also. Diagnosed with CFS and fibromyalgia in 2007, Ehler Danlos,, and now RA. My best advice...keep moving.

Feb 16, 2017 5:20 PM

For the fog and to reduce inflammation and pain, I take an amino acid supplement called L-citrulline malate. It's made a huge difference!

Feb 23, 2017 12:28 PM

Hi Coral, I am also 52 and new to this group. I have RA, Fibromyalgia, migraines and scoliosis. The pain and fatigue started at age 7 and my "base point" pain level is 3 out of 5 with meds. I am still working but drew the disability flag last year in order to get accommodations at work to have flex hours. I am not an expert by any means, but have learned one thing in this journey and that is to stubbornly defy your disease. I will not let it take over my life. I continue to fight. Try new things, ignore the ignorant and educate the uneducated but above all things know you are a beautiful person and have a purpose here on earth. Sending you positive vibes today!!!

Feb 23, 2017 12:51 PM

Hi Tricia, welcome to the community. We're 1 big family. I have fibro too. Feel free to ask any question, chime in or even rant if needed. Look forward to seeing you around.

Feb 23, 2017 12:56 PM

Hi Tricia. I don't think we have met. I have been kinda AWOL. Glad you are part of our group. :) I am 57. Have osteoarthritis, Fibro, possible Lupus and who knows what else.

Every day I wake up I count it as a victory. :) once I can sit long enough I look forward to getting to know our newer members.

Hello my name is Christine. I'm pretty new here too. I'm 41 and I have chronic back pain, DDD, arthritis, bulging disc which is pinching a nerve affecting my right leg, anxiety, depression, and my dr thinks I have fibro too. Going to a rheumatologist in about 6 weeks. It seems like so far off, hopefully it will go by quickly. I just filed for disability on Monday. I just can't work anymore with all of the pain and pain meds that I have to take. I joined this group a couple weeks ago, and thought I should introduce myself and try to get to know some of you. 😁

Apr 26, 2017 9:46 AM

Welcome Christine. This app is worldwide so people come on different times. I have fibro, arthritis, DDD, others can't remember. I'm going to back doctor in May. I'll be 60 next week.

Apr 27, 2017 2:31 PM

Animallover/Christine---welcome!

May 05, 2017 6:47 PM

Hi Coral, I also am 52 this is pretty new to some of this. My thumbs hurt all the time so grasping anything is out of the question. Being a Scorpio I'm not used to asking for help so cooking which I love has suffered. I once made $40,000 a year now I can't work. Most days I just sit and do nothing. So if you need to talk just give me a holler.

May 06, 2017 8:47 AM

Tinbelltree, I use a barstool to sit on while I cook or do dishes...obviously, I stand when I can and sit when I need...better than being an absentee cook "giggles" I'd would sit in livingroom and then "forget" I was cooking...wasn't pretty...
Welcome to our Hamlet..All my best!

May 06, 2017 8:51 AM

Welcome Coral, it's been 7mos or so since your original post; please forgive me if I missed you stating...

May 06, 2017 8:17 PM

Tink, Spunky, I am 60 and don't do much most days either. Hurts to hold phone to text. I can endure to post here because this is such a supportive site.

May 07, 2017 7:30 AM

Hey there Tamtoad, I get that not doing much..me neither...except complaining seems to be my forte' of late...This site has given me understandings about my disease that I thought was just my kookiness...hahaha seems I'm not such an individual after all...😜 Big Hugs to you, 🙏🏼 for you today better than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow .

May 07, 2017 7:44 AM

Welcome Coral! I'm 33 with the same, 💖💖💖💖💖

May 07, 2017 7:56 PM

Spunky thank you🤓 Frogfairy do you love frogs like I do?

May 21, 2017 11:38 AM

Everyone else has written their age, I'm 56, diagnosed with fibro 10 or 15 years ago but I've probably had it 20 or more. I have severe narcolepsy with cataplexy, Sjogren's syndrome, Raynaud's disease but it's mostly cleared up with L-citrulline malate, I lost my foot to cancer when I was 28, that kicked off this list of things. I have degenerative disc disease and have had 2 lifesaving surgeries for that and I'm seeing a doctor Monday, the same one who did my lumbar laminectomy a year ago.

So I suffer from severe chronic pain and fatigue so it was hard to tell that I have fibromyalgia and every few years I get diagnosed with a new autoimmune disease. The L-citrulline malate is just one of the things that help with the pain, it takes care of about 25% of it, the rest is handled by 3 antidepressants, lyrica, gabapentin, a muscle relaxer, nsaids and opioids.

May 21, 2017 12:06 PM

Wow. Sounds like my medicine cabinet. I am compassionate for all you have been through. You are a warrior for sure.

May 21, 2017 12:29 PM

I feel like more of a wreck than a warrior! After cancer I wasn't predicted to make it 5 years so I'm surprised by each year I make it into older age. 😊

May 22, 2017 7:18 AM

How much L-citrolline malate do you take? Is it safe with blood pressure medication?

May 22, 2017 8:58 AM

The starting dose is 3 grams which equals 1 level teaspoon, take that on an empty stomach with a little water or juice, twice a day before breakfast and lunch. I get Nutricost brand, they have kiwi-strawberry artificially flavored and sweetened so that I'm not adding calories with juice, don't take any protein or caffeine for 30 minutes. If you have a sensitive stomach you can have toast or yogurt, even though yogurt has protein it's ok because acidophilus changes milk sugar into L-citrulline.

Just so everyone knows, I don't sell it and it isn't expensive, I get it on Amazon. When I get a fibro flare or any kind of inflammation I increase to 3 teaspoons twice a day and if it's still there the next day, I increase my dose to 5 teaspoons twice a day. I've been doing this for 4 years now and it's helped my narcolepsy symptoms a great deal and my pain problems are a lot less. I even have a group for it on Facebook.

May 22, 2017 9:36 AM

Thank u brisleep. I'll check into it. 👍

May 22, 2017 9:40 AM

You're welcome Frustrated! It's reduced my fibro flares from 2 or 3 weeks every month to the longest I've had in years was 5 days recently but usually I feel the inflammation and it's gone the same or next day. 😊
