Newbie- bad fibro

Nov 30, 2015 7:26 AM

Hi everyone! I stumbled on this community and have been reading posts like crazy! Decided to speak up. I am 43, from Michigan, married with 3 boys. Youngest is almost 17. I cannot imagine being in this much pain with young kids! I have been diagnosed with really bad fibro and some arthritis in the hips. I currently take tramadol, baclofen (muscle relaxer), cymbalta, and meloxicam. I started on cymbalta about 2 months ago. About 3 weeks ago I upped it to 60mg daily and immediately I gained 10 pounds. But in the beginning I was actually losing weight. But at the same time I also started using a natural progesterone oil. So I'm unsure if it's the cymbalta or something else. Around the same time I had been eating lots of meat. For myself, meat makes me flare. I also had to stop eating gluten. Anyone else gain on cymbalta but not until later?

Ajbailey, Welcome to our community, which is our family away from home in a manner of speaking! I hope you find this community as welcoming and supportive as others and I have. I can't imagine going through all my conditions without their support!

I was on cymbalta 9 months. The first 6 went well but then I started having more pain and severe depression with thoughts of wanting to die. I was taken off, too quickly with severe withdrawals, but my psych doc did a saliva genetic test for meds metabolization. Turns out I don't metabolize or absorb B Vitamins, and I overheads benzodiazepines. I'm allergic to a long list of pain & psych meds. I am on Plaquenil for sjogrens, and its also helped my fibro pain. But I have Tramadol for flares, and muscle relaxers for RLS and night spasms. I've gained 40 lb in 2 years, so weight gain is off the chain! It's likely due to my hypothyroidism and all the meds. I'm also less active than I was before all this mess started in 2010. I'm trying to get some exercise 3-4 days a week. If I over exercise it sets off a flare. Welcome again, and God bless! 🙏🌼
