Newbie from Kansas

Jan 19, 2017 12:12 PM

Hi all! I'm Carrie and I'm from Kansas. I currently have arthritis (osteoarthritis and RA), peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia and migraines that cause me chronic pain. I was in a car accident in 2007 and then in a burn accident in 2009 and I'm on disability. I'm currently seeing a Dr about getting put on a pain pump as my pain allows me to sleep about 2 hours at a time tops. My pain meds are no longer helping and my dr is recommending this pump. I have just started researching it. They are also trying to get me a port placed because they can never stick me for blood draws and due to arthritis meds I have to have monthly blood draws. I've had a port before and it didn't last long so not sure what will be the advantages of it this time. Thank you for listening to me go on. I look forward to intros.

Hello and welcome 😊. I hope you find this group as helpful and supportive as I have, they aren't a a bad bunch 😊

You've had a really terribly time for the last decade or so. I really hope that the port and the pump help a little 🤞

I'm from Glasgow Scotland and suffer from CFS and Fibromyalgia alongside a few other illnesses. I have just been discharged from my Rheumatologist, so need to start the process all over again. I'm also waiting to see a consultant at the pain clinic as well as a couple of others. ☚ī¸

Welcome to our community family DragonFire! You'll find lots of support and help here. We don't judge or criticize, as we are all different and experience pain differently.

I've found out so much from others here and have been making changes, such as sugar & carb reductions to reduce inflammation; adding magnesium, D3 & B9 (folate) for muscle pain & bone loss; gentle exercises like stretching, hand weights, over the door pulley, stretch bands, recumbent bike, relaxation. This helps with the fibro stiffness and strength & balance issues. I now wear open fingertip crafters gloves for my cold hands and arthritis & sjogrens affecting my joints. I hope you can find ways to help reduce your pain. Hugs love & prayers the pain pump & port work well for you! 🙂💕🙏🌸

Hi everyone! I'm Charlie c: I'm a transgender 18 year old from Kansas who has been dealing with chronic pain for a little over 6 years now. I currently am diagnosed with Amplified Pain syndrome, chronic fatigue, chronic migraine, IBS, reactive airway disease. I'm not currently on any pain medication for any of my conditions. I try to stay busy with school full-time and my 2 jobs. In 2015 I went to Kansas City for a new treatment for kids with APS, it was called RAPS. RAPS stands for Rehabilitation center for Amplified Pain Syndrome.i stayed in the program for 1 month. It was awful. We worked with PT/OT and therapists for 8 HOURS A DAY, 5 DAYS A WEEK! Needless to say, I hated it. But I was determined to get better.. Since then, I've have no relief from pain. My spirit isn't broken! I have hope 💕
