Newbie Hello everyone!

Jan 03, 2017 12:49 PM

I just thought I would say hello to everyone, it's nice to be here.

I woke up on NYD morning with pain in my left side at waist level which travels to the middle of my back and front. It's getting worse now as the painkillers aren't shifting it but it's now changed to just in my side towards the middle back. The pain is annoying but painful if that makes sense sometimes stinging and sharp. I was fine NYE so haven't a clue what it can be.

Thanks for reading.

Hello 👋

Hi LouisaEve welcome to the community. Everyone here is very supportive, friendly and non judgemental. We all love across the globe so people may take time to answer depending on their time zone.

That doesn't sound good at all, it may be you slept awkwardly or you moved in a way that could have cased the pain but didn't feel it at the time so it was slow to build up.
Keep jurnaling your pain, how bad it is and where it is oh and also what it limits you from doing etc... the more info the better for your doctor. Hopefully it will go away as suddenly as it showed up, fingers crossed for you xx

Thank you for the warm welcome HWood14 and Sezzy!

I hope you are right Sezzy as I'm not good with pain my threshold is as low as you can get.

I'm leaving it as long as possible before seeing the doc as if I go now she will only give me more painkillers and tell me to rest so I'm going to give it two to three weeks before seeing her.

I'd leave it more like 1-2 weeks and have meds like ibuprofen incase there's any inflammation there and maybe some paracetamol between the ibuprofen if you're finding you're in pain before you can take the next ibuprofen dose (make sure you eat just before taking the ibuprofen as it can cause all sorts of issues).
Sending you positive vibes and warm healing hugs xx

Is this a new pain? Or an older one that's getting worse.

I know I often react different than others. For instance I often have kidney infections but they never present like a kidney infection normally does. However if my lower back pain is intense I know it's kidneys.

Same with appendix. Mine didn't present like normally would be found. So for me, while I would love to wait it out the chances are that whats happening could be more serious than it seems so it's better to have it checked.

If there's the possibility of an infection going on then the longer you wait - the more dangerous it could be.

So I guess if I were to give you advice based on my own experiences it would be to have it checked, especially if it's a new pain. But we don't all react the same to different situations so I don't know what would be best for you. (hope my rambling made sense. :) )

That's what I'm doing Sezzy taking both paracetamol and ibuprofen together but I was only taking the one paracetamol but I'm upping it to two now.

Mimikay it is a new pain that I had no warning about. Like you I've had pain before but knew what was causing it but this feels different if that makes sense. Your post made a lot of sense by the way.

It might not hurt then to have it checked in case it is an infection or some such thing. If that's the case then the sooner you can get it treated the better. :(

Hi LouisaEve!
I'm quite new here too. See you have gotten some good advice already.
Last winter (almost a year ago) I got pyelitis (?) (inflammation of the kidneys). The pain area sounds like the same - except mine was worst on the right side. Do you feel ill in any other ways?
Not to scare you, but don't leave it too long before checking it out. I didn't go to the doctor quick enough, so ended up being hospitalised for several days with antibiotics IV.
Good luck!

Hi Mennaj and welcome to the community as well.
Oh wow that's awful I hope you don't have any lasting effects.

Jan 04, 2017 5:55 AM

Hi Mennaj!
So sorry to hear about your diagnosis, it sounds pretty bad and it has scared me a lot. I've made a doctors appointment for next week so I can find out what it is as being on here has made me see sense to get it checked out sooner rather than later. I'm otherwise fine but but sometimes I feel quite nauseous with it.

The symptoms your describing were the same for me with a kidney stone. I ended up in emergency as I could not tolerate the pain. I pray this problem resolve quickly😊

Thank you Tamtoad. If it gets any worse than it is now then I'll cancel my apt at the docs and will go to a walk-in centre instead. One way or another I'm going to find out what is causing this pain.
