No help from my doctor

Aug 23, 2015 5:50 AM

I have back ache for 30 years. It was only last year that I did something about it. I was diagnosed with endometriosis last July. According to my doctor the back ache isn't to do with having endometriosis but not being given a diagnosis as to what is causing my back pain. I have eventually been referred to a back pain clinic which I was waiting for for two months. I went back to the doctors and just happened to mention I was waiting for the referral from the back pain clinic and the doctor said I will just check to see if it has been sent yet! No it hadn't been sent. So I was waiting two months for nothing. I have lower back pain all the time but it gets worse when I am standing still like when I'm preparing breakfast because I care for my mum and dad. My mum keeps on going on about her back ache which gets me cross because she won't ask the doctor for any pain relief for it.

I had the same thing happen with a referall to pain management at the children's hospital. Got told we had waited a year, but for some reason the referall didn't go through. My doc wanted me to get in, luckily. She got me in a few months out, instead of waiting another year.

Arunbeaver, Have they done an MRI on your back? If so did they use dye? Dye helps see much more than without it. When you are standing, is it just back pain or does the pain go down into your thighs & pelvis? I had severe leg and back pressure with pain in 2010-2012. They did an MRI with dye and found I had pelvic congestion syndrome, engorged blood veins following a pelvic mass surgery in 2010. I had them embolized, burnt and shut off with titanium coils and now I get very little pelvic pressure and thigh pain.

I do have disc issues and osteoarthritis all down my back, but it's not the same kind of pelvic floor pressure. I do get leg pain and swelling, but it's due to recently diagnosed venous reflux in my lower legs. So now I'm in compression hose...yay! I no longer stand to cook but have a stool that's just right for counter top height, and I use it a lot. I can't walk long because the lumbar & buttocks hurts too much and my lower legs do too. I hope and pray you'll be able to get seen at a pain clinic soon and get relief. 🙏🌼

Follow this up with your GP, make a fuss if needs be, please! I left my spinal pain too long before seeking help and it has resulted in permanent, life altering complications. Don't leave it to chance.

I had really BAD endometriosis, and back pain was one of my symptoms. It would even shoot down my legs. When they did my scope, I had an endometrioma the size of a grapefruit on one of my ovaries. It caused alot of pain!

Have you had a laparoscopy yet? When I finally ended up with a hysterectomy, at 35, they found endometrial tissue up in my lung area. It is awful how far that sh#t spreads.

I had a dr ask me if I was on anything for anxiety lol I was in pain... Trust me the Drs that don't care about ur pain aren't the ones you need to be seeing <3 I give em a try but if ur not doing anything for me ur not worth my time - which so far I got one good general physican that can do what a lot of other Drs can do and one good massage therapist ... It's hard to find the right Drs but u gotta keep trying - I'm in seek of a good pain management specialist lol will be a long journey to find the right person
