NO more of that

Jul 28, 2016 7:19 AM

Good morning everyone,
I tried to post this last night but it didn't get posted. Don't know how that happened.
So spinal tap was done yesterday. It was a much better experience then it was the last time. BUT, my pressure is still too high at 35. They didn't drain any fluid down so I'm still feeling the same symptoms I was earlier(nausea, headaches, eye pressure/pain, etc). It looks like at this point that I have just have to sit tight and wait for the neurologist to get back with me, on what the next step will be. But it appears that a shunt is more then likely in my future.
I did okay physically during the procedure, but emotionally not so much. I was okay until the Lidocaine went in and then I balled like a baby for the duration of it. I also told them that they could not use L4,5 or S1 when they did the pre-procedure phone call. What did the little buggers do? They used L5 which has already been comprimised by a car accident last year. I guess he thought he knew my body better then I did. So back is throbbing pretty good this morning needless to say. But no spinal headache because again, they didn't drain fluid this time.
Will touch base with you guys later on this evening. Have some chores and errands to get done this morning. Yes, I know. Nothing too strenuous already.

Hi. Good to see your post. I know you're busy but when you get a chance please post what you find out about how they're going to get you more comfortable (and about the shunt if that's what they decide to do it). Darn "buggers" using L5.
I hope your day flows as smoothly as possible. When I had the death defying headache from a spinal tap they told me to get caffeine into my system which worsened my stomach bleeding and then I had to come off of it. Uck. Glad you don't have that to contend with that this time. Take good care and let us know . . ..

Lula, I have pelvic floor PT this afternoon so I will lay flat when I get there. And I misspoke. Spinal headache hit me with a wallop this morning. Have gotten some Excedrin Tension Headache in my system and I'm working some caffeine in more system now. Hopefully, it will go away SOON!!!!!! 7, it's probably going to be Friday or possibly Monday when I hear back from the neurologists office hopefully. They told my mom they would give me a call when they got the results from the hospital. I'm hurting like crap right now between my head and my back already.

So sorry!! I had a spinal block for a surgery this winter- they stuck me 5 agonizing times!! I got a terrible headache and my back is now in terrible pain!! I can completely emphasize with you!! I hope it gets better!!

Lula, for me it's not exactly that bad. It was really uncomfortable at first because the muscles were very tight in spasm. At this point, the only thing I am not able to tolerate is a full pelvic exam, but that is coming in a few weeks.
Gardener, I spoke to day surgery this afternoon and let them know what was going on. They asked me to call the radiologist on-call if the pain is more then usual. Normal for me on a good day is 0-1. Pain level right now is at a 6-7 and that has been like that all day despite Excedrin Tension headache and Tylenol.
I'm going to wait until the morning to see if it has abated somewhat. If not, I'll give them a call.

Okay so I talked to the radiologist that did the procedure this morning. He seems to think that they didn't hit a nerve during but that the leg pain is related to the high pressure which is a very good possibility at this point.
Just taking it very easy today. Not doing anything that strenuous today. Just going to keep on top of it with Tylenol and heat if I can.

Amanda you rest and take it easy. And yes, lots of water to flush your system. Big hugs love & prayers! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΈ

Flappys, I did find something that I have to be extremely careful of at this point. I tried to take a really hot shower yesterday. That wasn't a good idea at all. I got really dizzy during the course of it enough so that I almost passed out. Today, lukewarm shower and absolutely no issues with dizziness at all. I think it might be a good idea just to hold off on them for a couple of weeks to see if that helps any.

A couple of weeks? P-U! 😲 Just kidding! 😁 Lol πŸ˜‚ I know what you're saying. I've never been able to take real warm showers or baths. But I think it's because of my temperature sensitivities. But I want to say I read or heard somewhere way back that hot bathing brings the blood to the surface of the skin. I hope you start feeling better soon! Hugs love & prayers! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΈ
