Northumberland

Hi I have fibromyalgia, I was diagnosed last year but have been suffering for a few years (at least). As you see from the title I live in Northumberland, up near Alnwick! I was wondering if there is anyone else round here. Also I'm looking for a support group. Lula x

Welcome Lula1! I'm from Georgia, USA. I have had fibro since 2008, and many other issues. You'll find a lot of new friends here. We offer support, suggestions, laughs, tears, virtual hugs, and prayers, but never judgement. We're from many countries and various ages, but the one thing we all share in common is chronic pain. I've found the one key element in dealing with fibro is to pace myself in everything I do. Because if I get overtired doing too much at one time I will pay for it with worse pain for days. I'm allergic to many pain meds so I have also learned to tune out my pain. Good luck finding a local group! But we'll be here too! 🙏🌼

Hi thanku for yr reply! I over did it last weekend by going out for a walk and suffered really bad with horrendous cramp like pains in my legs (worse than normal) I went back to the drs yesterday and I have been put on pregabalin 1 tablet 3 times a day, although I am only taking 2 for a few days then will take 3 just to get my body used to how it makes me feel. I have a very supportive husband and an amazing 8 year old little girlie and an amazing group of girlfriends who are so understanding. I'm not working at the minute as I'm not able to cope with it all, the tiredness is a big issue, I could fall asleep on a washing line some days! I'm only 37 and some days I feel like an 80 year old, my husband tells me that I look like one when I get off the settee after being sat for a while and try walking across the living room hehe.
I have good days and totally crappie days but life has to go on and I take each day at a time with a smile on my face xx

Lula1, welcome to our community family!! I have Fibro and live in the USA (NY) and have been in chronic pain for 22 years. This is a really wonderful place to come and meet others who deal with pain as you do. There are never worries about your mood or what you need to discuss. This is totally a no judgement zone and you will find quickly that you are never alone. All you need to do is reach out and there is always someone there to help. I'm glad you have a good group of friends that are supportive and understanding. That's always important. The wonderful thing about this group is that we ALL understand. We may all have different diagnosis or different reasons for being here but the commonality is chronic irretractable pain. I hope that you find the imformation, friendships and support that you need being here with us. So, again welcome and {{{{Hugs}}}} and prayers from across the pond.🌻🙏🏻

Lula, is it the upper or lower arm? If upper, is your neck back or chest hurting? Take a baby aspirin if so, an see how you feel in an hour or so. Not trying to scare you but heart attack symptoms usually involves the left arm. I was having similar pain and I have angina, which is better than a heart attack for sure. But my doc told me what to watch for. Praying it's not! 🙏🌼

The pain is in my upper arm mainly on the underneath but radiates down into my wrist and hand. I can't take aspirin I'm allergic which is a pain! I was getting the pains yesterday too xx

But it's just in the arm to the hand right? Have you tried an ice pack? I have tennis elbow that flares up sometimes, from shoulder to wrist. I put an ice pack in a towel and wrap it at the elbow, or shoulder if it's worse. And the pain could be from your neck. If it gets worse is say go to the ER. I hope it stops soon. 🙏🌼

Yeah sorry it is mainly in the arm only a little into my chest but think it's all to do with my all over body pain! Thanku and yes if it continues I will do something about it xx
