NOTHING works for pain relief

Dec 06, 2016 8:39 AM

I've just finally been dx with Fibromyalgia after months of horrible pain and nobody taking me seriously because they can't see anything and I look healthier than I ever have. I haven't found a painkiller that works besides having a Pentazocine shot which isn't really a painkiller, but shuts my whole body down for a few hours and even that is failing now. I'm unable to work and look after my little daughter and I have no one to help. It's getting harder to stay positive. Anyone have any pain-relief ideas. I feel like I've tried everything

Cannabis has been a lifesaver for me, it's easy and odorless to medicate with edibles. My state just legalized, but it was worth it to me to find a source before it was legal. It really did make a huge difference

Thanks Shar, I ordered a batch of cookies already which I'll get tomorrow. Just not sure how many I'll need or whether to use in addition to my prescribed medication and if there are any side effects to worry about

Go easy, depending on the dose you could be pleasantly pain free or gorilla glued to the couch. Edibles are way different than vaping or smoking, it takes up a an hour to take effect so it's easy to take too much accidentally. Its safest to eat half a cookie and wait an hour. Not 30 or 45 minutes.. wait an hour, then eat *half * of the other half if you need to. If after another hour you need more the remaining quarter will complete the dose. Adjust as you need to, if you don't get relief with the 50/25/25 method you can start with 3/4 and adjust 1/4 cookie at a time until you find what you need.

Be aware that not all edibles are equal, if you eat a whole 50mg cookie every dose then a 100mg brownie you'll have a different experience. Know the dose before you medicate.. but remember.. there has never been a single cannabis overdose. Ever. You'd have to ingest a literal 1500 pounds in 15 minutes. Go easy until you figure out how much you need, overmedicating only wastes medicine.

Yes there's a sweet spot in the amount. I have found it changes. I would start in the evening after your daughter is in bed ... I found it less stressful while figuring out the amount.

I've started 5htp and have increased my amount ... I had some decent sleep last night not long enough but wow a deep sleep. Woo hoo!

Trying gluten free as well.

It's very hard and scary when you are a parent dealing not just the pain but being the sole parent to boot. Be kind to yourself ...

I started with emerg back surgery, chronic pain and 8 years later fibromyalgia. My son is now 12 and has special needs. I get it.

Shar awesome info!

Hope you get some relief asap!

Thanks Shar and Foggurl! I've just had my first delivery and don't really know where to start. I think I'll wait till the Princess is in bed as you've suggested. I'm having a relatively good day today so thought I'd get some errands in and I've probably overdone it cos im extremely tired and the pain is blooming so I'll go take a nap first and see how I feel afterwards. Thank you! 😘

I'm speaking from experience.... start VERY small! I gave in and tried a Marijuana cookie when nothing else worked for my year long constant Migraines. I took a big bite. I remember my fiance being surprised when he saw the missing part of the cookie that I had already swallowed and said "You'll probably be ok" as he chuckled. I was spinning and out of my mind 2 hours later. I have to say, just taking a very small piece each night before bed seemed to be the one thing that started to give me breaks between my Migraines. I smoke it now (pipe or vape) bc is much quicker to take effect and is easier to control the amount entering your body. Just start small! ;)
