It's raining here and I've got to figure out how to walk safely in flip flops. I have an appt at 1pm, but can't put on shoes or socks. The pedicure I got last weekend with my daughter's...I have a very inflamed big toe, and haven't had anything but flip flops on since Friday night. I soaked it in Epsom salt 3-4 times yesterday, which at least brought the pain down. I wasn't able to put any pressure on it until late yesterday. I tried to put my sleep socks on and they came off real quick! I've used witch hazel and hydrogen peroxide several times. I know I'm not going to be able to wear shoes. Ouch! 🙏🌼
Sounds like you might have picked up an infection from the pedicure. You have to be real careful where you get those. I take pictures of my feet, just before they touch my feet. It sends a message to be really careful with MY feet.
I have a dermatology appointment in the morning. The skin around the whole nail bed is shiny red and hot. It was pouring rain when I had my psychology counseling today, so I had no choice but to wear shoes. Everyone knows wet flip flops are unstable. The shoe came off immediately when I got home. I hope it's not a bad infection.
The mail salon is really clean. They use new plastic liners for the things on each client, as well as surgically sealed mail utensils. I've never been anywhere that the tools were sealed. My daughter thinks they cut too ugh skin or caused a bad hangnail. 🙏🌼
The tour isn't as hot this morning, but if I touch it it's bad pain. See the doc soon. I hate to even think about them lancing it or removing the toenail! That's what my hubby said they may do. Omg!!! 🙏🌼
Paronychia is what I have in the toenail. She gave me an antibiotic ointment and told me to wear flip flops until it's better. She also said stay away from nail salons. 😔
She also checked the 2 lumps in my calf and is sending me to a surgeon. She said they are either lipomas or some type of lumps that women commonly get in the legs. I died what they're called and she said she couldn't remember but the surgeon will know. Already set to see the surgeon on the 18th. 🙏🌼
I'm sorry Flappys. I was worried it was an infection. Sorry about the nail salon. That's why when I do go on rare occasions, I take a picture of my feet, right there in the salon. It makes them really careful about what they do.
Dang. Maybe your Dr can get you a waiver or something. Where they say you need it because you get infected anywhere else, and it would be dangerous for you to have it done anywhere else? Couldn't hurt to try.
Oh Flappsy I am so sorry about your poor toe. There is nothing worse than a sore finger or toe it seems like you always bumping it on something. The Dr just messed up your mother daughter nail salon visits. I hate that foe you so much I know how you were so excited about going again. I hope it gets well soon. Sending Love, Hugs and prayers.
Please be careful of nail salons. My daughter is in beautician school right now and they are learning how to do nails. She has shown me some horrific pics of what can happen when the salons don't comply with the state laws designed to keep consumers safe. If you have a good friend maybe you can get her to do your nails in exchange for you doing hers. At the very least if the files/tools look used or not clean get up and leave. There is no pedicure worth a bad infection, loosing a nail permenantly, or being exposed to nail fungus!
Cearea, I'll have to check into that. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Weezie, I sure am going to miss it. The one toe looks better but now my other big toe is inflamed. Flip flops until they're both better.
Glassylady, the shop actually used new plastic liners for each tub, for each client. They replace and clean the tub before putting a new linger in. The tools are sealed in plastic like a surgeons would be. I've never seen that before at any salon. The NP said they likely cut too close to the nailbed on the outside, which then allowed bacteria to get in. She told me to use lotion or ointment and wear socks to bed, to keep the cuticles soft. She also said an infection can happen just from pushing the cuticle too far back. Would you ask your daughter what brand cuticle softener is best for home use?
Thank you to everyone for support & ideas! Have a lesser day! 🙏🌼
