Omg my knees

Oct 03, 2015 3:33 PM

Sorry to moan again but both knees feel like I've done hundreds of squats and im in so much pain. I dread the stairs and I dread needing the loo as lowering down is so painful as it is to sit down. Keeping my knees bent for a time causes terrible pain in them even in bed they will hurt if bent whilst I sleep. Any ideas? Despite other daily struggles it's this that's the icing on the cake. Thank you xx

Rub a pain relief ointment in then use a heat pad. It will help with mobility by keeping them warm. It sounds like osteoarthritis, which I have. If I sit too long or when I wake up, my body is soft and painful until I've moved around. Have you considered using something like the Tommy Copper knee sleeves? There are other brands available but my neighbor and hubby use the elbow ones and say they help. If they had a whole body stocking and worked it would be wonderful! Of course it would needed to be made like the old pj's with the snap close potty flap! Lol 🙏🌼

Katyhadenough, I just want to let you know something that may help you. When you are in bed laying down, if you lay on your side, put a pillow between your legs. This will keep there from being pressure points and also keeping your spine in alignment to help prevent additional pain. If you are laying on your back, I would suggest either putting a pillow folded in half under your knees so there is just a gentle bend in your knees and then your back with be flat on the bed, also helping to prevent further pain and helping keep your spine aligned. I hope that you can find a position that will make your knees feel better. Try to use a sock filled with rice and heated in the microwave. You could also try a warm tub bath with epsom salts. (Although you may not want to get low in the tub because it will hurt. If that be the case, just use the heating pad. I would also use a TENS Unit if you have one. Flappsy is right, I know folks who use those Tommy Copper Wraps and they say that it really helps. There is a young lady on my Nephew's track team who has bad knees and she uses those to be able to race. I hope you find something that works. I know how hard it is when you are trying to relax and you can't because you're so overwhelmed by pain. I wish you all the best and will keep you in my prayers.

By the way, never be sorry about "ranting". its all part of the situation and it is understandable. There is nobody here who will ever judge you. So, always remember that you are never alone and no matter what you need to talk about, there is always someone here to come running to the rescue!!!

Aw thank you so much for your help.im willing to try anything. I'm actually sick of my own voice complaining all the time. My fatigue is through the roof at the moment and trying to work is so painful. Back problems and arms that ache on top of everything else, draining as I'm sure your fully aware but my knees really are the icing on the cake. I will try with pillows tonight and look into a heat mat and knee sleeves. I often put my hotter bottle between knees when on side. I honestly feel this is no way to live. I have 5 children. All girls (i know🙈) ages 3, 12, 14, 14 and 17. One being my step daughter who we have full time. My husband recently had spinal stenosis and had operation a few weeks ago so is recovering and im a self employed beautician from home and I just feel like I am struggling so much. I need this pain to calm down. Xxx

Katy, you are an amazing person. Give yourself credit for taking care of 5 children and helping your hubby recuperate from surgery. At least he must be understanding of your pain. Although sometimes two people in pain together can bring some wicked bickering. The pain will lessen. It always does. We all walk through one step at a time and have one another to lean on. Hang in there... It will get better.🙏🏻🌻

Oh Katy! I wish I could give you a gentle hug and tell you it's all gonna be all right. Alwayz is right, you're being a SUPERHERO right now! It will not always be this hard, but I can't imagine how stressful it must be for you right now. Take each day moment by moment, know that it will not always be this hard, and know that we're all rooting for you here!
