Hello jgarza, I'm sorry you're dealing with such a sudden and difficult blow. You are very young, and this is hard, very hard. But you are not alone. All of us on here have varying issues and meds. But we are each others support.

I can't offer suggestions on meds because I'm not on anything major for pain relief except Tramadol & Chlorzoxazone muscle relaxers, and antidepressant and anxiety meds. I have a genetic defect that causes med metabolism issues and i have severe med allergies. I have asthma and have daily meds but I also use various steroid meds as needed.

I'm 53 and for the past 23 years I've had over 13 surgeries for separate & interrelated issues. I'm likely facing more for scar adhesions. I have many different med issues, most recently diagnosed dementia and motor skill loss with right side body weakness, so I'm on a cane.

Its ok to be angry, depressed. But how you think will affect how your body responds. Find one positive thing in your life to focus on, a hobby, a person, your goals. I hit rock bottom last year when cymbalta caused severe depression. Had it not been for my beliefs & faith in God, I might not be here today. I now focus on God, and believe it or not, He has directed me to different doctors who actually care. Although I have general all over pain daily, its more bearable than in the last 4-5 years. These are the doctors who found the metabolism issue, balance and dementia issues. And they're willing to investigate further instead of brushing me off as "a complicated case.".

You will be your best advocate because you know your body best. Seek 2-3 opinions if in doubt or just to confirm. Be open to trying different treatments. I'm ready for holistic health approach because of my medication allergies. And remember, we are all here for you! Good luck & God bless your venture to improved health!

Well said Flappy! If you can find one doctor who you can talk to honestly and explain your feelings and sense of frustration and despair, that dr may be able to advise you on your meds and maybe give you suggestions for a different plan of care. If you don't know which doctor this would be, perhaps a family member, good friend etc.. Someone that's knows you well and can be your advocate and help you find such a professional. There may be something outside of meds that can help you in your body aches and pains and overall well being: different diet, acupuncture, physical therapy, support groups, different timing of your meds, tens unit, pain ointments, heat/cold therapy, splints ( that's all I can think of now but know there are more modalities out there). I have tried all of these with some success in some of the modalities and in combination with meds, I have reached an much improved quality of life. I still have pain every day and have my highs and lows but my spirit is much improved from a couple years ago when I felt I was in a deep cave, getting deeper and all alone. This forum helps me also feel like I'm not all alone in my problems and feelings.
You are so young and have a long and full life ahead of you. I am so sorry you have to go thru this at such a young life. I honestly can't imagine how this must feel as I didn't start having major health problems since 2010 at 48 yrs old. Please start with thinking of who you can approach to help you figure out what you can do to improve your quality of life. Best of luck to you

Jgarza,

I am not going to say I know what you are going through because I don't. I know what I am going through. Your brief message about yourself doesn't allow me to imagine what it is like to be you but I can feel your pain through your words. I was once your age when I had an accident. It changed my life. It still effects me or I wouldn't be on here. It happened just when everything was going right for me. I had a business and an awesome job. I continued to try to work for several months after but I finially knew I couldn't. I felt like you and at times I still do. But when I came home and told the kids I would not be going to work anymore, they both jump hugged me and said yeah , because we never see you. That broke my heart. It allowed me to see what I still had. I had a family and friends that care about me. They may have no idea what to say to me at times, but they love me. I had the ability to do some things I have always wanted to do. I wanted to do some writing.

But time has past and l have wasted some of the the things I wanted to do because my body is hurting all over like you said. I have an arm that I can hardly use. The one that write with. I thought my ability to write is over and I noticed on my iPad that I can type with my voice like I am doing now. I am encouraging you to look beyond your illness and pain. That is so much easier said than done. But we can sometimes. Think of the things that you want to do that are safe and doable for your illness. Think about your family who loves you and I hope supports you. You can get support from here. That is what I do. Best wishes to you and I hope you will make some progress. Like was said previously, your mood affects your healing. So try to find something that will make you in a happier mood. It is alright to feel that way I tell my doctors all the time that I can't take the pain anymore. That I can't take more thn six more months of this. It is my way of getting emotional and saying I'm tired. Please help me. I want them to know how serious I am. When it comes to pain and support, I think you will find this places will take you seriously. Again, I don't know how you feel. I was just sharing a part of myself.

Thank you everyone for the Rey's. I really appreciate it! I am going to the docs tomorrow so ima ask about what other methods of treatment we can do or avoid. I'm hoping that with this next visit, they won't put me back on chemo. But who knows. My doctor like to do her things her way.

Sadly, they are far & few between...doctors open to suggestions by patients. Try to make a list of possible tx you are interested in, so if she brushes a general "is there anything else we can try", you've got some ideas to say " what about this... Good luck, & God bless!
