Oral surgery Monday

Aug 11, 2017 2:09 PM

Hello everyone I will be having oral surgery Monday to get 5 teeth removed. And I'm worried about the pain afterwards because 2 of my teeth are broken below the gum line (thanks Sjögren's) and I know they probably going to have to cut my gum to get it out. But I'm worried about going into a flare from the pain and stress of it. I already hate the dentist because when I was younger I had to have a cavity filled and I was not numb all the way and the dentist thought I was hollering just to be hollering cause I was like 9 years old. He even put something in my mouth to force it to stay open and I felt everything. To this day it takes a lot to numb me up. I'm just so worried about the pain afterwards though and 2 are my wisdom teeth too that's being pulled. Ugh!

Good luck with your oral surgery. Dentistry is a lot different now than years ago. Some dentists (the ones around hear) give you a pill to put you asleep. I'll be praying for you. (((gentle hugs)))

Oh they are putting me to sleep thru an IV. It's afterwards I'm worried about.

Prayers for your surgery and the pain afterwards. Hopefully there's little to none.

I'm so hoping you have an easy time of it...I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed surgercally they hadn't e er come thru the gums...I was also wondering your teeth breaking off at the gums and the not getting numb at the dentist is something I am dealing with (the breaking) and the no numb...I didn't know there was anything wrong until way into adulthood I just thought going to the dentist hurt that bad...are both of those things due to Sjogrens? Thanks and I'd make sure of exactly what they are planning on giving you after surgery beforehand...best if luck

@BrokenBlossoms, yes if you have Sjögren's syndrome it does mess up your teeth especially if you have dry mouth all the time. Thank you for your prayers and thank you too Westrengirl I will definitely let you guys know how I'm doing afterwards. P.S. I'm going to make sure to ask what he will be prescribing for pain cause it's going to have to be something strong for me. I don't want to be in pain and throw myself into a flare.

@Painlady, and what alternatives do you have in case you don't like what dentist gives or heaven forbid he gives you nothing?

I have extra bone that has to be removed from my jaw and want to ask before hand as well; but preparing for the "opiate crisis can't give anything" line..

Well a week ago he had prescribed me Percocet 5/325 for the broken tooth that I thought was bothering me. When actually it was the tooth next to it that has a cavity down to the nerve. So I don't see him prescribing anything less than that. I'm allergic to hydrocodone, and codeine and because of my stomach issues I can't take tramadol or Toratodol. So there is nothing else they can do but Percocet.

Hey PaineLady how are feeling today? Healing okay? All my best

Aug 19, 2017 12:48 AM

@Spunky, I went to see the dentist yesterday because on area just hurts so bad. But his assistant looked and said everything was healing good but this will be the hardest couple of days of the healing. And she wouldn't even ask the dentist for a prescription for pain meds. So I'm hurting and trying to deal with it.
