Thanks everyone, I did have a great time! They switched hotels from the last few years, so we got to learn a new place. We also got a hotel an 11 minute from the convention, which helped us actually take breaks during the day.

I went to a bunch of writing panels, made me want to write a story that's been brewing in my mind for the last 4 years or so. I also went with my roommate to a bunch of artist panels, and my favorites had Rob Carlos, who I had to look up afterwards. He does a lot of dragons and has a zombie princess series that's amazing.

One lady at am artist panel about composition didn't believe she could learn to do lighting, and thought it was a talent. Erica and I laughed, having only learned by practicing, watching, and asking questions. Talent can be helpful, but you have to develop the skill...

I also tried to shorten my confluence game pitch for a panel about how to pitch a book, and got some helpful feedback.

I went to panel called "Freaking me out, not grossing me out" which was a discussion about when it is wise to be descriptive, or not in horror, or normal fantasy, and how some of the most disturbing things written had no blood and gore. We also discussed the evolution of fear, and how in an earlier generation you could just wander, but now stranger danger is a big thing. There was also a brief part about how repeated murder, death, horror, becomes almost cartoony, like in happy tree friends or American horror story. It was a small audience, and was pretty interesting, even though I don't write horror.

Now, I'm home, gonna have stuff to do, for confluence, plus a historical fiction, plus half a dozen other things I'm probably forgetting? 😁❤😅
