Osteoarthritis Sucks!

Apr 09, 2015 7:51 PM

Dealing with this for way over 15 years now. Has anyone figured out how to stop it's progression? I'll try anything at this point as long as I can still function:)

2New Wheels I have Osteoarthritis as well as Syringomyelia, Fibromyagia, and Syrinx. The only thing that I do for mine is using topical ointments and hot packs made with plain white rice, I have recently discovered using Lavender Oil on a cotton ball and sew up in hot pack heat for approximately 3 min. Then use it easiest the pain as well helps me relax.

Hi 2NewWheels, I've also have osteoarthritis, since 1992. For the first 10 years it wasn't that big of a problem. It gradually increased and the past 5 years it increased a lot. I think its because of so many other autoimmune issues I now have.

Unfortunately there is no way to stop the progression. My doctors have all said the same thing. Rheumatoid arthritis is easier to control with meds. I treat the symptoms with heat, ice, massages, ointments & Tylenol Arthritis. I have a neighbor who says the Tommy Copper sleeves help his joints; knees & elbows. I hope & pray you'll find a method(s) that works for you. 🙏🌼

Have you tried acupuncture at all? Also I have had some success with lemongrass, wintergreen, birch and peppermint essential oils for joint and nerve pain. When blended in Emu oil the healing properties seem to get deeper into the joints as well as the benefit of healing anti inflammatory proporties of its own. I have also made my own salve with red pepper or capsasian that some have great success with. That never ending constant wear you down pain like arthritis is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. I'm sorry you are dealing with it too.

Lymie, I'm considering the acupuncture myself. I can't use anything with lemongrass or birch; 2 of many allergies. I'm seeing my pain doc at the end of the month and I'm hoping he'll order a special made ointment for me, by Dermatran Solutions. Praying for everyone to have a good weekend. 🙏🌼
