I know it's very early in the morning, but I just got woken up by my surgical incision being a royal pain in the ass. Has been throbbing since it was cut out this morning(apparently was deep and very ugly). Getting ready to try more Advil and see if that helps any. I'm annoyed as hell and grumpy as all get out. Sorry, just needed to get it out this morning. And yes, it's normally worse for the first 24-48 hours, but this is absolutely insane. Going to try to get comfortable and go back to sleep for a bit. Busy day later on. My stepmom is coming to pick me up, so that she can spend time with her granddaughter(almost 2) and then out for dinner. Check in later on. Blessings
It's often recommended to rest after surgery, that surely would be more benefit to you than a busy day out? You're most likely going to delay healing if you push yourself too hard, too soon. In this circumstance, consideration from others who have expectations of you is needed, maybe explain you're not up to it (not sleeping & in pain) plans could be altered? Stepmom might be able to visit with grandchild at home & ease the efforts you make for your child for you whilst you rest, instead of dragging you out for the day. Maybe after a daytime resting you will feel less annoyed, grumpy & more inclined to enjoy the evening out to dinner. You will probably dread the day ahead unless you say something & ask for help. Also, if Advil isn't easing your pain effectively, seek medical advice. Best wishes for a speedy recovery 😊
Lifeshermit, thank you for the suggestions. Once the initial post-op dressing was off and packing pulled, pain significantly less intense. Actually getting ready to crash now. Have a bit of a free day tomorrow and Friday afternoon. As long as I don't have to sit on a hard surface, I'm fine. Even if I can just lay still on my belly, much less discomfort. The only real issue that I'm having is that I have an open wound on the back of my leg, the size of the tip of a pinky, and I keep rolling directly over it. Otherwise, everything is good.
