Out of control anxiety

Dec 08, 2015 10:56 PM

Sigh my anxiety and panic attacks have been quickly taking over my days. I have my disability hearing on January 13th and the closer I get to it the more my anxiety increases. Any time my husband talks about it, I go into a severe panic attack.
What helps you panic attacks and anxiety?
To the ppl who had a hearing, how did it go? What did they ask?

I have an advocate who's doing all of my SSDI stuff. I didn't know there was a hearing. Where are you located?

I'm in Maryland. You can go for a hearing if they deny you twice. I got denied twice because they said I'm too young to be as sick as I am. I filed the first time about 3 years ago and have been waiting for a hearing for over a year

That sucks! I'm sorry you have to deal with that! I try breathing techniques and using lavender essential oil which helps with mild anxiety otherwise I have to take my clonopin.

Laysha, Anxiety is understandable. But to keep it from taking over, try practicing deep breathing with your eyes closed, listening to soft music, or watching a funny movie. Try to redirect your thoughts in other words. I'm waiting to be assigned a hearing date, so I understand. (((Hugs))) & praying for a positive outcome. 🙂🙏🌼

They said you are too young to be sick?! They realize that even children have or develop serious and life threatening conditions! Seriously, what kind of stupid idiots are these ppl? I am sorry you have to deal with them.

I totally understand your anxiety Hun. I am on a medication called Lorazepam for acute anxiety. It helps, but sometimes I have to take two an it knocks my rear out. Other then that, I try to give my brain and body something to do, so I can release the crazy nervous energy. If you have a hobby or something you love to do, even if it's something silly, do it. One of my new favorite things to do is to color. Yes, color 😋. If you have a mobile device There are actually coloring books you can get. There is a phrase for it - color therapy 😌.

I tried all the anxiety and depression meds and none o them helped me with my anxiety or depression, but I do take Zanaflex a muscle relaxer that does help me relax when I get tremors and anxiety attacks. When I smoked THC/CBD it helped the anxiety and depression, but short term. I'm hoping everything goes well for you!!
