Ovary pain/IBS/the pill

May 17, 2018 7:55 AM

Don't know where to go with this pain anymore!

I have had a recurring stabbing pain in my left ovary for 2 years which is dibilitating. I get bloated whenever it appears and find that if it doesn't appear by itself then it will almost always appear after I've passed a bowel movement and strained.

I've seen doctors who've said it was IBS, I've had ultrasound scans for endo and fibroids but they came back clear, tests for celiac and crohns which were clear, and then I met a doctor who told me to take a birth control pill to see if it was ovulation pain. It worked!

I was pain free for 6 months, but I put on so much weight and was bloated constantly.

Since coming off the pill, the weight has starting shifting but the pain is really fiting back.

I was miserable on the pill, and I'm miserable off the pill.

Has anyone has similar experiences? I feel like there has to be a better solution than the pill which makes me feel so horrible.

I have the copper IUD too. I've debated changing it for a hormal one as it will be localised hormones as opposed to the pill which sends them all round your body, but it's a lot of pain to go through if it ends up making me feel the same as the pill did too

Ask your dr if the contraceptive injection (depo) would help too. There is still a risk of weight gain but I found it better than taking Cilest (mini pill).

Take care Hayley 🌈
