overdoing it

Sep 06, 2015 11:07 AM

So my grandparents were in a tight spot. They decided to move back home and none of the family really wanted to help. So I went and packed up their house in one day and then loaded them up the next. Well come to find out their house isn't ready so I will be unpacking the trailer van truck and car today and then moving all their stuff to there place later in the week. Now I knew when I got started I was going to be hurting. How does one get some relief from pain after doing something like this?!?! Any suggestions would be great!

KaylaHailey, I overdid things myself yesterday. When I do, my body screams in pain. I never sat down yesterday from 3:30pm to 11:00 last night!! Dumb, dumb, dumb. The only thing you can do is relax and only do what you are capable of doing. Give yourself break and take your meds at regular intervals so you can be comfortable. I pray you feel better soo.

Ice packs (if you can stand them) on the sore spots rotating with heat. You can also try a muscle rub (I like MaxFreeze) Soaking in a hot bath. Relax as much as you can. Good luck and I hope the pain lets up quickly.

ScaryAnn, no ice for this body. It sends me into crippling spasms and the inability to move sometimes. I just have to relax, sit in my medical recliner with the vibrator and maybe put on the heat. It will pass. Thanks for the suggestions.

KaylaHailey, I've done several moves over 12 years. The last one was four years ago, after I developed my fibro. We moved my sister who's husband had passed away, into our other sisters home. The next several days ago, all I could do was movements of necessity. I'd suggest warm bath soak in Epsom salt, or a massaging shower, with heat &/or ice if tolerated. If you have any take muscle relaxers, or drink about 2-3 oz of wine or brandy (just enough to relax without making you tipsy or pass out). And rest, rest, and rest some more. When you do move them again, take breaks every 30-45 minutes and do gentle stretches before and after. Don't forget deep breathing to relax to. Also, if you don't have one, get a back support like they wear at home depot and lowes. Good luck & God bless your generosity and thoughtfulness for your grandparents. πŸ™πŸŒΌ
