Overwhelmed and wanting to give up

Sep 06, 2017 10:36 PM

Every time I get overwhelmed I give up on basically everything. Drs appointments, physical therapy, eating right etc. I've been really stressed lately because of medical bills, I just can't afford them all and they keep doubling because I can't pay them. My dog just had to the ER last night and has to have check ups for the next few days. All of this has added up to over $1000 and I'm having anxiety attacks and I just keep crying. I had to cancel my therapy appointment today which thankfully saved me $150 but I desperately needed it. I have my Rhumatologist appointment tomorrow and I really don't want to go. I don't want to have to shell out any more money that I don't have, and I just want to give up and accept the pain that I'm in and that I won't get diagnosed. I've been in pain for 5 years and gone to so many specialists and no one can figure it out and the pain just keeps getting worse so why am I spending this much money and sending myself into panic attacks if I'm not getting better

I'm only sixteen so I dont personally know what its like to have bills. But I've seen my parents stressed, and fight over the matter. God provides us with what we need. I injured myself when I was 14 and throughout the journey I have been ready to give up so many times. I was willing to deal with a ton of pain. But I haven't given up and am supposed to be getting the brace off my hip tomorrow. I have been getting stronger and am ready to keep fighting. I just had to find my motivation. And mine was that in the middle of the night God told me that I am going to be a almost personal trainer/ PT. That was my motivation. I hope you find yours. God bless.

Jessie.. Have you talked to your doctors hun. I know when i lived in Minnesota a neighbor was in a similar situation. He went to a place called freedom resources, they helped him get a budget set up. Helped with contacting medical places. Most were able to write off a large part of the bills. He had a case worker assigned to him and she helped to teach him coping skills, financial do's and don'ts and all kinds of little tricks that would help him in his life without overwhelming him. Was a huge blessing for him.

Hang in there. This will pass. I was forced to file chapter 13 since I was fired from my job and haven’t had a paycheck since 12/16. Kinda sucks but I tried.

You must take care of yourself, and that includes going to doctor in therapy visits. I hope you feel better soon.🤗

In desperate times like this you can just pray and leave it in GOD'S hands as mention in the bible he wants us to throw our burdens on him because he cares for us. Also in Rev chapter 21: 1-3 I love because it mentions soon sickness will be a thing of the past. I know a lot of people don't believe in GOD. However,I do and when you have no more cards to play it's out of your hands. I'm sad that your feeling this way. I've been there a few times in my life. Prayer was my only way out.

Hang in there honey. I believe in prayer as well. My favorite scripture is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Even if he doesn't take my pain he gives me strength 🙏

So I talked to my Dr and she said she didn't know of any programs in California like freedom resources. Does anyone have any suggestions to how to make extra cash on the weekends? Like something online.
I don't really know what to do about my financial situation anymore, I've tried budgeting but I'm not spending any extra money, it's all going to medical expenses. I have $125 for 2 weeks to pay for food and hygiene products and I price out all the ingredient before I go to the store but I just can't seem to scrape together enough to get by.

I believe most states have programs at certain hospitals where you can sign up for low co-pays and medical/ rx costs,
I love in Colorado and University hospital helps everyone around the state while Denver health helps people in the Denver area. I would call your local hospital, ask for the financial department and all them if they have programs for people without insurance. Or you can apply for Medicaid. They usually cover most of the bill. Hope this helps

Thanks for everyone's advice. I do have insurance but I have $60 co pays and it adds up really quick. I'm feeling a little calmer about it though. I'm making a lot of progress and that's what counts. I've been keeping up with PT, I've gone 3 weeks without fast food(which I used to have every day) and I also cut out red meat. I'm finally starting to see results which gets rid of some anxiety and frustration.

Hi there, really sorry to hear the pain is so overwhelming, let alone the bills. A couple of cheap & helpful options for you:

L-Theanine replenishes your neurotransmitters that help mood & pain. You're best off ordering the powder off the internet. Costs a lot more in capsule form.

Melatonin is a hormone which will give you a more refreshing night's sleep and therefore help the healing process.

Both of these are naturally occurring things in your body that get depleted with pain & stress. Both are taken before bedtime. I've explored tons of stuff and these are as effective as pharmaceuticals for me, but are natural as can be. Good luck!

Have you looked into applying for temporary disability? As long as you can get a doctor to back up your pain levels it can really help you out.
