Eddieray, I'm sorry for this new trouble. I have it on and of in my feet and hands but like you no one could tell me why. After my recent Sjogrens dx my hubby printed out a doctors article on it and brought it home for me. I was shocked to see a lot of my symptoms are possibly caused by it. Research all your diagnoses (dx) and check with the doctor. Ask can any cause the neuropathies and still show negative on tests. Good luck and praying for you to get answers. 🙏🌼

It is well known that diabetics developed neuropathies. Diabetes wreeks havic on the entire body. The very best thing that you can do for yourself is maintain healthy glucose levels. Sorry if all I did was state the obvious. That was not the intention. Back injuries can become inflamed and cause pressure on nerves and cause your hands to drop things, your feet to drag. I cannot take gabapentin it actually causes me to jerk. It is a crappy feeling. Have they tried a small course of steroids? Sometimes getting rid of inflammation can make a huge difference. Back to the catch 22....doctors do not like to give diabetics steroids because it screws with your glucose but so does pain. I hope the best for you.

I just keep telling the docs that I have neuroPathes and they keep saying that they have did all the test and it doesn't show all I want is the true reason to come out I can live with that and thanks for the info on gabapenton I didn't know jerking was a side efficeft and even my diabetes doctor keeps telling my it's ra and I go see a specials and see says its neuropathy so im just going crazy here .lol

Eddie,
It could definitely be a neuropathy, my neurologist did a ton of tests and I came back negative over and over but he still diagnosed me with peripheral neuropathy.
Another thing that you could look into is dystonias.
If a specialist thinks it's neuropathy, then maybe try to get the docs to communicate.
Depending on how the pins and needles feeling developed, I'd also look up crps/rsd.
It's probably not that, but you might find related things that fit your symptoms.
Best of luck!

Most people tolerate gabapentin fine. It is not really a side effect it is more on the line of intolerance almost allergy- (ish) when you jerk from the medication. I am just a freak of nature on meducations. Unfortunately there are very few medications for nerve pain. The other is Lyrica but that did the same to me. So far the best thing that works for me is not legal in Texas. Funny that I know that it works.....lol

Hmm, perhaps it is an indication of poor blood circulation. Does it effect your whole hands and feet or just the fingers and toes? Do they go numb at any time or is it just the pins and needles?

Eddieraye I am having similar symtons, I too am Diabectic, I also take 8oo mg Gabapentin 4 x aday.I also take 50 mg Savella 2 a day. I have numbness and tingling in my arms and hands , I have had some jerking in hands occasionally . My Neuro has checked me for nerve damage and carpal tunnel just recently and the test came back normal. He told me mine is caused by the Syrinx inside my spinal cord pressing on the nerves.I also have Nuropathy in my feet they hurt and the bottoms burn. They don't think it is caused by my Diabetes. Last time my Ac1 was checked it was 5.7 for the last month and a half I have been experiencing numbness tingling all the way down my left arm to my fingers. I'm bad about picking something up and it just slips yhru my hands. It's very frustrating, and scary. Will keep you in my prayers.

I have been reading everyone's posts on this subject & I have recently over the last few months been getting the pins & needles feeling as well as numbness like my hand & foot have gone to sleep even to the point of not feeling my foot. I don't know what this is & I am afraid. I have CRPS type II stage 4 in my right hand & am in a splint almost all day, if not I have to wear a compression glove as I can't have air hit my hand.. Now I am afraid with this feeling & the feelings of every joint aching knees, toes, etc. that it's spreading or I am getting fibromyalgia along with what I have. I have the numbness & everything else all on my right side.. The joint pain is all over. I don't know what this is & I don't see my neurologist until next month. It's extremely frustrating. Any suggestions?
