CatchMyPain Community and Pain Diary App to manage chronic illness

Pain Companion app finally available on iPhones

Jun 22, 2016 3:59 PM

Dear CatchMyPain and Pain Companion community,

I am very happy to announce that our new Pain Companion app is finally available on iPhones. You can get the app by following this link https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pain-companion/id985521736?mt=8 to enjoy the private messaging feature, a modern look and feel, a personalized home screen and a list of patients who have the same pain pattern like you and who share the same diagnoses like you.

Please use your existing CatchMyPain account to login. To do so, you need to tap on "Already have an account?" on the bottom of the registration screen. All your existing diary entries and posts are available in the new app too (you can use both apps in parallel).

If you have forgotten your login credentials, please use CatchMyPain's password forgotten functionality. This feature isn't available in the Pain Companion app yet.

In case some Android phone users haven't gotten the Pain Companion app yet, just follow this link to get it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sanovation.paincompanion&hl=en

We hope you will enjoy the new app.

You would do me and my team a huge favour, if you’d provide feedback here in this discussion thread. Another huge favour would be giving the app a five-star rating and review on the app store ;-)

Thanks a lot for your support and I wish you as little pain as possible.
Kind regards, Daniel
Pain patient and CEO & Co-Founder of Sanovation (the independent startup behind the CatchMyPain and Pain Companion apps).

You can only have it in portrait on an iPad........😞
Will you have an update to landscape? I'm quadriplegic and find it difficult using things in portrait

Jun 22, 2016 5:03 PM

Hi JAHMAC, thanks a lot for your feedback. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to work on the landscape mode yet. It needs a lot of work (programming and design changes) and I think we won't be able to start working on this until the beginning of next year. I am very sorry about that.

Jun 22, 2016 5:12 PM

😞, deleted the app now until that happens, no use to me as I don't have the hand function to be able to use it portrait up, as I use a special assistive programme but that only uses landscape mode for my typing. Hopefully your team can work on this as I'm sure there'll be others too. I'll stick with CMP for now

Jun 22, 2016 7:20 PM

I have a Nexus 7 and it works in landscape on the CMP app, but portrait in the PC app. πŸ‘ So glad the rest of the community can use the PC app now!... way to go! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Nice app. Design up to date & cheerful color. I will enjoy using all your work!

Jun 22, 2016 10:59 PM

Apart from everyone who uses Apple iPads and only has the choice of portrait, you do a great job guys but, no landscape for iPad, that should be a base requirement of an iOS version to have it in both !

Jun 24, 2016 6:59 AM

Thanks a lot for all your feedback. I am glad to hear you like the new app.

@JAHMAC: Would it help if you could use Pain Companion in your browser (Safari) in landscape mode? We are closer to finishing the browser version than the iPad landscape app.

Jun 24, 2016 11:44 PM

That would be A good in between, I didn't know I could use it via browser. I think most people are so used to iOS versions/update of apps to be ready to go, so when it's the other way round (android) it's a little frustrating, Apple user itch I guessπŸ˜‚. But that would be a good in between as I should be able to access in safari using my software just fine. That means that in terms of accessibility for me and others who only have use of iPads (for me I run most things from my iPad which runs straight off my Powerchair battery), still have access to using the app, because I really like using this one and having the pain app extras, means more choice for all. Than you πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ˜Š

You can access the web version by following this link http://web.paincompanion.com/ . But some things are not working properly. E.g. the design is stretched out and some images are not being loaded properly. It is an unofficial version ;-)

Great, thank you Daniel 😊

Jun 27, 2016 8:19 PM

As always thank you so much. I left feedback at the play store! You are truly appreciated

Jun 28, 2016 3:06 AM

Thank you so much LMB for your feedback and positive review at the play store!
And thank you to everybody else who posted a review on the play or app store! We really appreciate your kind support. This is what keeps us motivated :-)

Does the iPhone app sometimes crash? Mine sometimes crashes and I wonder if this is a general problem? If it crashes, did you recognize any pattern (e.g. it always crashes on a specific screen)?

Jun 28, 2016 11:46 AM

Hi Daniel, I've put it on my iPhone and it crashes every time I go onto the pain diary, it loads but then crashes, hope that helps

Jun 28, 2016 2:10 PM

Hmm... that's strange. Did you install the app today or is it an older version? The pain diary works well on my phone.

In the meantime, I found out that the app crashes if you close the app (by pressing the phone's home button) on then open it again within a short period of time. We will fix that in the next update and we will also have a look at your pain diary crashing the app.

Jun 28, 2016 2:31 PM

Mine hasn't crashed in three days.

Jun 28, 2016 2:46 PM

I like the way it looks. It is very user friendly. There is a blue circle with a plus sign inside that appears at times. Pressing it caused it to crash. But other than that the program has not crashed.

Jun 28, 2016 7:08 PM

Today so I could check it for you, it's currently 01:07am here in the UK, I've just checked it again severely times and it does the same thing on the pain dusty page...iPhone version. Hope it's helpful

I don't use it on my phone, always my iPad,but wanted to help with any feedback, and unfortunately it crashes every single time. I'm using iPhone 6S+ most up to date iOS 😊

Jul 06, 2016 10:46 AM

@gnine0326 Can you please send a screenshot showing the blue circle to support@paincompanion.com ? This will help us to investigate on this problem.
@JAHMAC We are investigating the crashes in the pain diary section as well.

Many thanks for all your feedback!

Hello, I have huge problems with the app, everything works except the diary - it crashes all the time. I have sent a personal message to support in my app.

Also the exported diaries(links that are created) are not able to open any longer. The message "An unknown error occurred" shows up.... What to do?!

I am still able to read my log in PC-version of catchmypain, and read catchmypain-app on Iphone.
But I would like to be able to print the log. Best of all - if it is possible to export the data in something that can be readable for excel!!

Feb 19, 2017 2:04 AM

Daniel is working very hard, unfortunately he had to let his team go due to funding difficulties,so it is just himself doing all the work, and he is also someone with chronic pain. Some things may not be priority at this time. 😊

Feb 19, 2017 2:31 AM

Wow - thanks a lot for your post JAHMAC, Then I understand.
Amazing that Daniel is able to continue supporting.
I will make my export manually thrn until it is possible for Daniel to get more assistance πŸ’ͺ🏼.
A big bow for you Daniel, I am impressed by your effort to continue this very good app and the catchmypain website πŸ‘πŸΌ.

Ready to start relieving your pain?
