Pain Companion update 3.7: Attaching images and better home content

Jul 21, 2016 10:42 AM

Dear community,

It is my pleasure to announce that my team has been working on another great Pain Companion update (Pain Companion is a different app than CatchMyPain, see below how to get the new Pain Companion app).

It might take a couple of hours until it is available on all Android Stores and it will take a couple of days until the iPhone update is approved and released by apple.

But now to the interesting part: What's new?
- You can now attach one image per reply. I am looking forward to you sharing many interesting, enlightening and funny images!
- We have improved the content on the home screen significantly: The selection of shown discussions should now be much better (e.g. matching your diagnosis). Discussions in which you have posted a reply are heavily favoured and usually shown on top. It now also says how many new replies have been posted in a specific discussion since your last visit.

I am looking forward to reading your feedback about the new update.

In case you don't have the Pain Companion app yet, you can get it from here and log in with your CatchMyPain credentials:

Android phones: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sanovation.paincompanion

iPhones: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pain-companion/id985521736?mt=8

Please support our efforts with a positive review and rating in the app store (just follow the links above).

Love to all of you and thanks a lot for your kind support and for making this such a great community :-D

Went without a hitch. Happy Woman here

Jul 22, 2016 11:47 PM

I don't mean to sound like ungrateful child. However this new feature is awesome. Next could you make it possible to copy and paste from the app there are so many interning and helpful things thst happen sometimes I want copy and past andnputip on fb. That would be extra aswdome. But trust I'm so exited for the current improvement.thsnk Daniel

@newfibrogirl you could always take a screen shot of something the paste it into your message (or whatever) as an image or attachment

Jul 23, 2016 8:09 AM

@newfibrogirl: yes, I agree. Copy paste would be a great thing. We will look into that. We a currently working on a bookmark feature which will allow you to save those discussions which interest you most.

@ArH: that's a great workaround. Thank you.

Please keep the feedback and suggestions coming 😃

Jul 23, 2016 3:16 PM

Thank you both Daniel and ArH..i appropriate it.

Jul 23, 2016 7:33 PM

What a great idea! Sometimes it would be nice to save a "conversation" here.

Jul 24, 2016 2:20 AM

Or delete one of your comments that totally makes no sense, then have to re-write it... Please

There seems to be a glitch, I'm using iOS most up to date version, when I scroll down on a thread with pictures on it, when I get near the bottom of the page, the page has this glitch where it skips back up the page so you can't actually scroll down to the end of the thread as it keeps skipping back on itself, this only happens on the threads with pictures on, thought this could be useful information.

Jul 24, 2016 11:28 PM

Is there a way to change/edit/delete a post once you post it? If there is, can you please talk me through it because I can't figure it out. Thanks!

Jul 25, 2016 1:48 AM

ArH NO. They haven't got yo this yet!!!

Jul 25, 2016 2:20 AM

@JAHMAC: Thanks a lot for reporting this bug. The same happens in my CatchMyPain app: When I scroll down to the reply field, it jumps up above the reply field. We'll try to fix that.

@JAHMAC and ArH: Editing and deleting posts is tricky. There are some technical challenges and there are some usability challenges. Correcting some spelling errors poses no problem but if somebody changes the content of his/her post significantly in an ongoing discussion, it will be become very difficult to understand the discussion thread from newcomers. We would probably have to implement some sort of timer which disables editing a post after a specific amount of time. E.g. you could only edit a post within one hour after having initially posted it. So far, we haven't developed the edit feature because we think that developing new features adds more value to the app. I am looking forward to reading your opinion about the importance of the edit feature compared to other/new features.

Jul 25, 2016 5:56 AM

Thank you for these apps. I use them many times daily. And, I discuss the ideas and things I've learned from members, with my family, friends and doctors. This is immensely helpful!

I do strongly hope for a copy feature. My Android phone will not take screen shots, (as far as I or anyone around me can determine)

Thanks again {{Hugs}} and Best Wishes to you and yours.

Glad it isn't just my screen jumping all over the place then!!
I don't think it should be about whether a "newcomer" can/can't understand a thread, if the person has decided they don't want a reply or view they have written on the thread anymore, that's their decision, no one else's. It's as important as having this app to ask questions or vent, us people are pretty smart and should be able to work out if a comment or part of a thread has been deleted. I think the Edit feature is probably the most important feature you should be working on, there's been lots of people asking for this feature, we sometimes change our minds and want to delete something we may have written in haste, we can't do that currently, and the frustration of having to repost when you notice you have either misspelled something or written something and autocorrect gets carried away!!
Maybe do a poll and ask the community if we think it's an important feature to have?

Really like the upgrade. Thank you.

Daniel... i love the pain diary feature, but as i only have access by my phone atm... i am not sure if i have to be online for the following...

I would like to print out my pain diary... the graph and the day by day pain scores... even the pain drawing... so that i have a quantifiable, blk n wht... diary, to hand my pain management team, and for my own notes too?

Doctors respond well to ink on page rather than vague memories of the past 6 weeks.

Please... is this a feature? Can it be please? It would help so many of us if we could print it from other devices such as fone or tablet 😊

ThanQ Daniel 💙

In case i cant get online... i have been trying to screen shot... but its not going well i have to say lol

Jul 27, 2016 9:21 AM

Lulabel, ufortunately Pain Companion doesn't work offline but the CatchMyPain App does. You can login using the same credentials. If your first app was Pain Companion you don't have a password and you need to use the CatchMyPain password forgotten feature to get one and change it in CMP. All CMP entries will show up in Pain Companion too. Last but not least, the CMP app has an export feature. Your companion diary entries might show empty drawings...

Jul 27, 2016 9:22 AM

We plan to add a chart to the export and also add the export to the pain companion app.

Jul 27, 2016 9:24 AM

JAHMAC, thanks a lot for your feedback. We will prioritize the edit feature higher. Would editing a post without being able to delete it be good enough?

Jul 27, 2016 9:43 AM

Yes, definitely, I myself wouldn't delete a post I've written, as it is something that I would have wanted peoples opinions on, but as you know, it is so frustrating when you can't correct yourself. Just so you know, you and the team do do an awesome job, that's just my feedback and when mentioned, there have been others who say they'd like an edit option. Thanks for all you are doing already, I totally appreciate it!! 😊👍🏾

Jul 28, 2016 8:22 AM

Your feedback is very appreciated!

Jul 28, 2016 9:56 AM

Thank you very much to you and the team, for your work on these apps!
An effort feature with copy, cut and paste will be super helpful. I currently have to rewrite everything to fill out electronic forms for docs.
Thanks again! And I trust you are talking good care of you, during this process.
Be well.
