Pain exacerbated by recent car wrecks

Jun 30, 2016 11:29 PM

I had 2 car wrecks, 24 hours apart. I deal with daily pain from lumbar degenerative disc disease anyway, but as a result of the accidents, the pain has become so much worse. I'm taking 50mg of Tramadol, but it's not helping - not even a little bit. I can't tolerate stronger pain meds because of the severe side effect of constipation.... Thinking maybe surgery in my near future? I just don't know.

I am sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I had a car accident a year ago in which I fractured my T11. Since then my pain levels have more than doubled. So I understand how the trauma can excaerbate it. If you haven't already I would suggest making sure the car accidents haven't further damage your spine. I hope you find some relief!

Thanks, RavenRose! I have a followup with my PCP on July 6th, so we shall see...

Oh no! Bluegypsea, please make sure to be seen. My daughter works in the insurance business and she forced my hubby to go to the ER last week. He was hit from behind and had upper back & neck pain. She said if you aren't seen quickly for injury the insurance companies fight you. She hit another car last year and while waiting for a wrecker another vehicle hit her car & nearly ran over her! She was standing on the bank. She's still fighting the insurance from the guy who hit her car. And personally I've suffered 5, yes 5 accidents (auto), and had two neck surgeries with problems all down my spine. The spine can be affected decades later from injuries. Hugs & prayers it's not serious!! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Thanks! I was seen the same day of the accident in the hospital emergency room and then followed up with my PCP less than a week later. It's just the lingering after-effects that keep bothering me. I sure hope I get some relief soon, whether through physical therapy, injections, epidural, or surgery.

They gave my hubby a shot of toradol & flexeril. He's been fine since true 4th day after, but his boots who was with him is hurt worse. The docs will possibly put you through the red tape gamut of PT & injx, unless something shows up on x-rays/MRIs. Definitely stay on top of it. (((Hugs)))
