Hi everyone, I'm new to the community and I need advice. I am 17 years old and I suffer from fibromyalgia. in the last period I have a twinge in my chest and head. being already anxious and hypochondriac, I often take anxiety and panic attacks thinking of the worst that can happen to me, even if I know the reason for my pains. I can not get out of it, does anyone have any advice on managing anxiety and pain? thanks a lot to everyone
I'm sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with something so horrible so young 🤗
For me I found the psychology part of my pain management helpful. It is a battle of wills; you're still so young so it's harder. When I was 17 I had panic and anxiety attacks pretty much everyday. It's a case of telling yourself you know why the pain is there, processing that it is your normal and that's okay and accepting the pain.
Trust me I know that sounds like nonsense but it does help. My old counsellor used to say use the HAS approach: what is Happening, what is Actually happening (looking past the anxiety) and what is the best way of dealing with the Situation/finding a Solution.
AliceMatcha, welcome to the community. There are many of us fibromyalgians who get chest pain. Mine can be from costchondritis (inflammation to the tendons & muscles & ligaments between the ribs), GERD, heart palpitations, and a hiatal hernia. Stress & anxiety can trigger my migraines and my spinal issues cause Cervicogenic headaches. Talk with your doctor. And be as descriptive as possible so they can help figure out what's going on and help you find relief. I do deep breathing and relaxation and coloring or reading to lower my anxiety & stress. Hugs love & prayers today is a good day for you! 🙂❤🙏🌼
