Pain Medication?

Jun 20, 2018 10:51 AM

Hi, I am new to this group. Was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 4 years ago but have had pain and other symptoms for years before that.

Was just wondering if you found a pain medication that helped some with pain?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I’m very recently diagnosed, but have lived with arthritic and ankylosing spondylitis pain since the 90s...I haven’t discovered a formula for the fibromyalgia, but tramadol takes the edge off, twinned with paracetamol makes it ease more, but nothing removes it. I want to get a rowing machine, having read that pumped muscles help with pain too. I can’t do any other form of exercise due to the arthritis, apart from cycle locally on my sit up and beg bike.

Thank you for your suggestions! I Haven’t found anything that works for me, and if I do, my body stops responding to it after a couple of months. It is so frustrating!
I try to do some walking but my legs feel so heavy and tired most days.

My mum has fibromyalgia and currently take nortriptyline and naproxen (high dose). These seem to help her the best out of any other medication she has taken.

Welcome to the community. I was dx with fibro in 2008. Tramadol worked for a while but stopped working. I have been taking Lyrica for a few years. It helps a lot.

AmbrielleLyn- I was on noritryptaline but had bad reactions to it. I have not tried naproxen yet, thank you for the suggestion.

AnimalLover2- Thank you for the welcome! Yes Lyrica makes my life so much easier, before it I could not get out of bed let on walk across the floor. Tramadol, I am going to talk to my doctor about, I have seen so many on it. I tried Percocet, Morphine, Tylenol, Advil, Tylenol 3, Oxycodone and have not gotten any relief :(

Fibromyalgia sucks!!

I know this may sound like a broken record, but cut gluten, ie bread from your diet. Wahls protocol is a good guide on how to eat properly for inflammation and pain.

Have you tried Gabapentin for your AS? I have AS and RA as well as other Dx. The Gabapentin will help with nerve pain and Plaquinil for inflammation. Heat or cold Tx also help as well as TENS. Lidocaine patches OTC or by RX also help with localized pain. I’m on OxyContin also.

OxyContin works
