Pain Medication and Gastroparesis

Jan 29, 2016 5:57 PM

I'm just curious how many people suffer from Medication Induced Gastroparesis and how you handle it? I have been on pain meds now for 6yrs constantly for 3yrs. The past 2 yrs I would start having excruciating cramping followed with unstoppable throwing up and we couldn't figure out why till I finally found a GI DR who told me exactly what was wrong with me. I have a lot of problems controlling the gastroparesis even with diet and medications. I am on Domperidone 3 times daily now and it kinda helps, but seems like I am constantly taking Zofran or doing Promethazine Injections and still end up in the ER followed with a 4 days stay to get me back under control! Would love to hear if anyone has this same problem and how you control it.

SassyCowgirl, I'm so sorry you go through this. I have IBS that sometimes sends me to the ER, and i never know when it's going to go from constipation to diarrhea. I can only imagine all you go through, and I'm sure it's very frustrating & tiresome. I wish I had a suggestion to help. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs!! πŸ˜·πŸ™πŸŒΌπŸ’•
