Pain Meds After Age 50

Sep 23, 2015 12:02 PM

I saw my pain specialist yesterday and she mentioned that when I turn 50 she will need to change my pain medications. Right now I am on 20mg of Methadone every 8 hours. She didn't really give me any specifics so I'm really concerned. My pain regimen is working so good right now, I just dread changing. Have any of you experienced this and what were you switched to?

I've been on norco 10/325 for over 15 years and i just turned 50 and now my pain specialist wants me on methadone but im worried it won't help the same. How does methadone work for you?

I've been on Morphone for a long time now. Methadone started not doing anything for me shortly after I was put on it. I was in 120mg a day along with the other stuff and I'm 50. They have made no mention of changing anything. I hope that whatever changes they make on your meds help you to get some much needed relief. As always, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you have a peaceful night and less pain. 💕😊

I have been on generic Norco for 10 yrs it is gradually stopping working at about 3 hrs. I also take Fentonyl patches 50 mg change x 3 days, Gabapentin 800 mg x hrs. I am 59 and my primary Dr hasn't said anything about switching my pain eds around.
