Pain pain

Feb 05, 2016 3:30 AM

Hi
I'm new here so plz bear with me in 2013 month of April I accidentally fractured neck throat finger plus other internal injuries after hitting a stonewall at 70mph from being knocked of turned into without warning ! Following 2wks clinical coma and several weeks as an inpatient I was released from the hospital network. I complained only of pain during my stay and for a bath/shower, after 30mths of complaining of left shoulder pain inclusive of other pains my shoulder was xrayed My rotator cuff tendons were damaged and the inflammation was creating a large bursa and extreme pain.
Now I had several medical experts from neurosurgeons to physio techs etc and it's clear that my signals and direction to the centre of my pain was being ignored.
I had a steroid injection into shoulder joint and a 10 pain patch along with a TENS machine.
Now awaiting an ultra sound and minor Op to repair joint.
My lower back and degenerative spine is cared for by the pregabalin x 600mg pain patch 10mg and duluxitine 60mg meds

I feel dizzy Drowsy on top of depression Every Day

Wow after reading what I wrote I know I'm still upset !
C5 C6 fracture
Voice box fracture
Laceration to liver n kidney
Deep cut to nose bridge
Broken finger
Heavy impact to shoulder

April 2016 is 3 years since

Nov 2015 found out left shoulder has torn rotator cuff tendons

Treated with steroid which helped for the first time in newly three years
I'm now awaiting ultra sound n Op hooray

I have difficulties walking due to lower back pain shoulder n neck pains . My spine is said to have degenerative spinal desease which can not be strengthened or operated on due to its overall condition reduced by this serious trauma.

Stairs are difficult to climb sitting standing are also challenging

Does anyone feel like your alone and no one understands your pain and you feel like you needing to prove your every word.

Suggestions are frustrating especially when there coming from a person you are trying to explain how the pain feels.

I find thinking positive is challenging and lonely

You have come to the right place. We all felt like that until we came here. Can't meet a nicer bunch of people. It's hard to describe pain to other people who don't have to live with it every day. Sounds like you have been through the wars. Hope you are doing OK. If you need to talk there is a whole community here. X

Buzby, I have found that reaching out helps. Subscribe to a few FB pain support pages, contact Social Services in your area. Don't let the pain dictate your life, especially in reaching out. There are so many resources, Advocate For yourself. Keep sharing :-)

Feb 05, 2016 8:33 AM

The C6 and C5 and throat have healed I'm sure but it's the nerves that are causing the collapsed vertebrae to hurt basically
Accupuncture physio all sorts have been tried
I'm left in pain patch and lyrica capsules

TENS machine just obtained so let's see

I get cric neck frequently from sleeping and have just received a bed board for my pillows

Life is about trying searching for pain free part of a day Sad

Warm weather helps a lot but I'm in UK lol

Feb 05, 2016 8:37 AM

Ah, we have alot of UK PEEPS in here. Hopefully you will start feeling better.

Feb 05, 2016 6:50 PM

Hi buzby, I'm a C6/7 T7/8 quadriplegic and L3-S1, did you have spinal cord injury or did you manage to get away with fractures and healing up? I'm in the UK!

Feb 05, 2016 8:13 PM

I know what You mean buzby, I get really bad headaches!!!!!😁 Don't you hate when people say crap like that. You were saying you have to prove yourself. I can relate to that but I hate when people say there headache is comparable to what I are you are going through. By the way, I was joking about my first statement about my first statement. People are just so ignorant. But as stated, this is the right place for you. People truly listen and will offer empathy based on what they have gone through and experienced. We know how you feel without exactly knowing your pain because all of that is relative to each person. My best wishes to you and welcome

Jahmac I got away with fractures nerve damage no Op
But awaiting shoulder Op for torn rotator

Feb 06, 2016 4:38 AM

Jahmac your injuries are life changing how do you cope although I'm walking and using my arms it's associated with pain upon application

There is a study going on Right now in Manchester UK university into Pain n Cold weather and whether it has identified affects on sufferers
All I know is the cold makes the areas of concern hurt like hell

Does anyone have constipation issues ? I'm saying serious constipation problems

My stomach has grown and my food gets stuck inside no matter how much green veg I eat and I take a senna tablet alternate days which is hit n miss
My bowl movement is a self study programme in its self

I eat chicken and fish dishes only but I'm moving towards veg only in 2016

Feb 06, 2016 4:55 AM

Profiler lol thanks for hearing my pains

I ask people around me

"DO YOU REALLY HEAR MY PAIN"

one day is never the same better or worst

Oh mi back today
Oh mi shoulder tomorrow
Oh no pain but I feel anxious and stressed
Oh no pain no stress but I'm constipated

And so On life is such a uphill thing especially when your nearest n dearest convinces herself she is there for you when she is walking 10 yards ahead of you while you negotiate with your walking stick or you find yourself trying to keep pace with her and conceding to say plz slow down I can't keep up
Which brings up another question Are you ashamed to walk with me Why you leave me and leave me feeling abandoned while I'm out of my prison oh that's my home !

I usually get oh no darling just remind me ! Oh it gets worst
I get its cold and I was just trying to get out of the cold

The car tyres needed air I'm using a walking stick and it's cold outside
She says I must go put air in tyre as it's cold outside

If she thought of me just once in 24 hrs I would feel supported but this is how it is 24/7

Feb 06, 2016 2:41 PM

Buzby , I am sorry to say this just based on your last comment. Wow, she sounds self centered. Tell her go air up the tires yourself! I can tell you that the people that use catchmypain , are absolutely supportive and are here for each other. Keep sharing and hoping, you will have better days as well as the yucky painful ones. Much love and blessings, Terri

Thanks
I guess it's awful to air my laundry here but when illness strikes you know who you friends really are !
No man's an island and although men I guess are naturally stubborn but need is what we all rely on at times
Need we can forfil and need we require !

I'm learning painfully how to cope wholistically

As much as I enjoy companionship

Is anyone here into Supersport motorbikes and although riding one may have caused your current pains like myself are you still a fan of bikes ?

I may have been on board one at the time I still view it as an accident period *

If I had the strength I'm sure riding one would take away my pains lol

Feb 07, 2016 12:45 AM

Buzby, have you tried Laxido or lactulose? I used to find they worked much better than herbal Senna! It works by softening. I would say by going onto eating just veg/fruit would not be a good idea.....you'll have natural build ups of gas...which will give you horrible pain. I tend to only eat fish or something like chicken in the evening with vegetables and if I have carbs, I go for sweet potato rather than regular potatoes and red meats are much harder to digest for me in the evening especially because I can't stand, I don't digest food quite so well as I once would've done, I always try and have breakfast, Muesli (Dorset Cereals Fruit one is my face) or porridge. And I tend not to eat whit carbs in the evening too. Now I have to use(well,my Carers) either digital stim or suppositories. I get on with getting on really, I have full time care, which enables me to get out and live life to the full! I just try and make the most of each day, learn from that day, carry it to the next day. Yeah it can be Shitty sometimes but everyone on here has shitty days. Even if it's one if my worse days p, I'll ask my PA's if we can get outside, even if it's 10 mins in the park or up and down the road, you'd be amazed at just how much that can make a difference

Welcome to our pain family Buzby! I'm just catching up on old posts. I was offline most of last week from a pulled tooth & issues, plus arm & scapula pain. I anted to say how sorry I am that you've suffered such a tragic shock to your body and mind. Depression is a normal part of most of our lives. I'm 54 and left work in 2010 for surgery. But complications and additional diagnoses have caused my health to deteriorate. I'll never return to work. The surgery caused an ileus postop, and already having IBS-C, I'm sure there have been nerve damage complicating my bowel issues. I've between taking Senna-S (S=with stool softener) & magnesium tablets twice a day for three weeks and I'm finally having BMs at least every other day... First time in 15-20 years. The colon specialist days my issues of IBS-C is complicated but sluggish intestines.

You've between dealt an awful lot all at once, all life changing. Grieve the life you've lost. Allow yourself to feel the anger, depression, disappointment, cry, rant, whatever you need to acknowledge that your life is forever changed. Then learn your limits through pacing and taking one step at a time, to find your new normal life; to find new ways to still enjoy things. Our ability to enjoy life has changed, but we don't have to let our disabilities and illnesses rob us of enjoying life through new ways, even if it's shorter spasms. Sending you gentle hugs, and prayers filled with support from all of us here! 🙂💕🙏🌼
