Peoples thoughts on hoing to A&E

Aug 27, 2016 7:21 PM

Im currently on a waiting list to see a surgeon about my back. Now im wondering if im in shitloads of pain and attend the A&E where im on the waiting list, would that help in my way of getting my operation?

Hi mark... 😚
In my experience it makes no ods at all...πŸ€— as A&E just patch 'em up and ship 'em out! 🌻
But thats UK nhs for u! Im not sure what its like in Australia ⚘
Good luck sweetie 😚

Hi Mark, in NZ presenting to A&E definitely would improve your chances of surgery earlier. It gives an indicator of how your pain is NOT controlled and also your presentations to A&E places a burden on an already busy service so the surgeon who will review you at A&E is more likely to arrange an urgent outpatient review... That will lead to earlier surgery. I'm sure Aussie is similar. If your pain is not controlled and you are struggling an A&E presentation is recommended. I have considered doing the same myself... My surgeon was oncall working at A&E!!! ...but I realised I needed planned care, hence I'm seeing my surgeon next Thursday for review.
Best wishes

JAHMAC, all that matters is that you're home and things are moving in the right direction. You keep that bright smile and know that I'm here if you need a laugh !πŸ’•
