I have fibro, and was just diagnosed with PCOS. Does anyone else find that their period triggers a major flare? I am in so much pain and even tramadol didn't touch it. Grrrr

I have had fibro for 10 years now. My hubby figured out from the start it was period related. Not one doctor has ever mentioned it but my bad flares start the week of my period and the week after. I do have flares that come at any time but my worst pain is around the time of my monthlys. X

Have you been checked for endometriosis?

Jul 05, 2016 11:20 PM

I just had a pelvic ultrasound, would endometriosis show up on that?

Actually it doesn't show on ultrasound. Rarely it may, but it's even missed on a MRI unless a trained eye spots it. The only definitive diagnosis is through surgery. But most doctors may suspect it based on your history and some may treat it based on suspicion.

I thought I the only one! My hip pain gets worse with periods. I feel like I'm gonna die sometimes.

No not the only one. Im surprised at how many professionals haven't mentioned it at all. Surely we cant be the only two people. Its how I know im due on now. X

Nope, you are not the only one. I also have interstitial cystitis and when it comes time for my cycle to start, look out world. Raven, DeJa is right. Endo won't typically show up on a pelvic ultrasound. It's typically diagnosed through a diagnostic laproscopy but yes, most docs do suspect it based on clinical history. That's what my original diagnosis was, because there are 4 generation of women in our family who have diagnosed endometriosis and some that don't but it was thought they did based on symptoms.

I have fibro and PCOS, and I agree. Not on any painkillers though. Trying to hold out for as long as possible from them things. Hope it ends for you soon. X
