I love this time of the year (except for the weather induced flares). I love the twinkling lights on the tree, the smell of pine and cranberry scenter candles, and the joy in kids eyes when the see all the festive decorations. Here's my small slice of heaven. Share your Christmas decoration pics and spread joy!
That's beautiful Cassie! I had a fireplace once when I lived in GA , but I don't now that I have moved to another state. I will hopefully get our Christmas stuff up this weekend after I deep clean my carpets. I got a new toy for Christmas and it's a 2 in 1 carpet cleaner and vacuum cleaner! 😊 I'm excited! That's sad when I'm excited over a carpet cleaner lol! But once my carpets are cleaned and dried my Christmas decorations will go up!
I love all the decorations. Makes me want to put up mine. I have to wait until my ankle pain goes away. I have appointment with the podiatrist next Monday. He's in surgery most of this week. I can't wait until I can decorate.
My little fake tree sitting on top of the speaker. I bought it on the weekend which is the only reason its out. I have another tree about the same size that has decorations but it's still in the basement. Oh and a plush darth vader wearing a santa hat. That's the extent of my decorations
This is as far as I've got with my new tree!!! It's a little bare atm but I've had to go out and try to get some cheap lights as most of the ones I had either got damaged being moved about from the old house to storage to our new home or they got left behind like the very beautiful Christmas tree I had because I just couldn't get it in the van to go to storage and I needed to be out of the house as quickly as possible! I will hopefully get it all decorated tomorrow
Thank you sjogrenspain77, I'm soo sorry that you've been thro this as well, it's been a hard couple of years but we're now starting to settle in our new home thank you......and we finally got the lights and decorated our tree this morning, now for the rest of the decorations.....tomorrow, tomorrow is a good day to do the rest!!!! 🎄🎁🎄
I'm just not decorating this year. I live alone and celebrate yule, not Christmas. My daughter and her beau will be coming up for yule, we'll exchange gifts, eat a wonder full dinner and then have a Bonfire ritual.
Mzladybug I'm struggling with being in the mood for decorating myself but my girl is very much in to Christmas this year and wants to decorate the whole house.....as much as I'll be doing is the living room and the windows in the hallway upstairs and downstairs (might need to find a couple of extra long extension leads first)
Sezzy, my kids did the tree :) I absolutely love Christmas. I couldn't have done it 2 dais ago but with yesterday being a good day, I did it! Actually pretty proud of myself lol 😁 I had to buy another power strip. Good luck! Maybe the festive decor will get you in the Christmas spirit!
Melissa, Abs Beautiful! Mood Lifting For Sure! You are very fortunate to have family help! I have outdoor done. Will be awhile before inside can begin as my husband putting in new floors upstairs! Can't wait though. Will be needing lots of help! Your photos belong in a Christmas Magazine or Pintrest for certain!! 💖
Feeling a little more Christmasy....didn't decorate the rest of the living room yet as we went to my mums yesterday and came back this evening. I'm feeling throughly knackered and in more pain from being at mums and driving, an hours drive never used to be this tiring! I think I'll have an early night and hope for 4 or 5 hours as I 1-2 hours is just not enough!!!! I'm actually looking forward to decorating the rest of the living room tomorrow, a friend of my mum made us a Christmas garland for the mantel piece in the living room plus I need to get out all my Christmas candle holders like my Santa's train (I'm not sure if I want to get more tea lights or get LED tea lights?) and my snow globes....ok I need to go thro my boxes to see what made it into storage, I haven't looked yet because I know I'll be upset if my favourite items didn't make it 😢 Good night and I hope you all have a restful night or a peaceful day where ever you are xx
I haven't been much in the Christmas mood with the one year Anniversary death of my Aunt coming up and I have been busy working with the band committee getting ready for Breakfast with Santa that I haven't had time to clean my carpets like I wanted to and my daughter's Christmas Band Concert was today. She did an amazing job and I very proud of her! I don't know when I will get my tree up.
Sjogrenspain77 I'm so sorry to hear of your Aunts first Anniversary coming up, Christmas is a hard time for loved ones no longer here especially if they passed close to Christmas. My nan passed away 2 years ago now and the pain doesn't get easier especially at this time of year. I was very close to my nan and it is still hard without her but my comfort is that I know she's watching over us and on our angel on the top of our tree I have a ribbon going around her with a ring with wings inside it saying "nan" so the angel is my nan watching over us at Christmas. Your Aunt is in my prayers that she is watching over you xx
Sounds like you've been keeping yourself busy and I bet everyone will enjoy breakfast with Santa. It's one of the best feelings in the world when our children make us proud, I bet you was also filled with love and joy for her. Don't push yourself too much trying to get everything done, as long as you have your family around you the decorations don't matter. The spirit of Christmas is to be happy, spend time with loved ones.
We did breakfast with Santa too. We helped host. The kids loved it and it makes me smile when they smile. Hosting was hard...standing for 3 hrs nonstop. I felt like crap the rest of the day but in the moment my pain is the last thing on my mind and it's all about the kids and joy and happiness.
Oh my, this is going to take me forever to decorate at this rate....tree Saturday and the Christmas garland my mums friend made for us put up today. I did add some red and green flashing star lights to it as well (battery operated as I'm fast running out of plug sockets)
Oops.. Sasha wasn't in the past one. Lets try again. The one above is our wooden nativity scene. The "village" is actually nesting boxes. Last year I decorated my daughter's hotel room with them. Each filled with different snack foods..
I'm getting closer to the tree being up lol! I have the spot picked out and a couple of things rearranged , my kitchen counter and now couch is a mess! Augh I will get thier tonight I hope. I am just wore out from cleaning the carpet.
Everyone's decorating looks real pretty. We had to order a tree, forgetting our old one last year died (lights). We thought it wouldn't arrive until after Christmas but it came today. Talking about putting it up (6' tall) our daughter suggested we wait until next year, when she and her dog hopefully live elsewhere. She said Gunner pulls at stuff on trees, and his mom eats the ornaments. Yikes! We decided well let our granddaughter put up a mini tree when she comes Thursday overnight. Putting up her "Little People Manger Scene" toy beside the tree has been her yearly activity since she turned 2. Yes, at 2 she snatched the"Joseph & baby Jesus" from her stepbrother's hand saying, "that's the wrong way! It goes like this inside the manger." After she finished she grinned at everyone. Who could be upset at her snatching after that? It never feels like Christmas until she comes to do the tree with us. I'll post a pic later.
I helped my daughter make her Christmas hat last night. Thursday they are having their Christmas Dinner and they can wear their Christmas jumpers and make their own Christmas hats. Each class has a prize for the best hat in the girls and boys. She used her Halloween witches hat to make hers and to make sure the hat stayed round and stop the top from falling sideways in half I secured half a clothes hanger inside, then she put a small rimmed straw hat inside firstly to hide the battery pack for the lights then secondly to hold the rim of the witches hat with the bells going round the edge of the witches hat. She's hoping to win but is sceptical because some of the girls have completely gone all out and made theirs from scratch with papper mashay and all sorts of stuff like that
Thanks everyone she is very proud of her hat and she'll be wearing it today at school. Today is Christmas dinner at school so they can wear their Christmas jumpers and their Christmas hats and each class picks a winner for a girl and boy. She's really looking forward to school today XX 🎄🎀🎁🎉 XX
I remember I was going to write something more but feel asleep and must of pressed post but for the life of me I can't remember what else I was going to write!!!! Never mind it'll come back to me later!!xx
MKnight, our tree still isn't decorated and all our ornaments are up in the Attic still lol! I've been so busy and sick that I have not felt like decorating, not to mention the event coming up tomorrow that I have to be thier for, and gotta be at the school to decorate for today, your tree is absolutely adorable! Swimming and seafood sounds awesome! It's 32 degrees right now and we've got a chance of snow Saturday night according to my weather app. Enjoy your tree and the sunshine and seafood. Make's me wish I was in Florida at the moment. ... Sorry wandering thought LOL!
This is supposed to be my weather sat night. Kinda excited and kinda dreading it if we get it. I'm already dreading the colder weather, but if it's going be here it mine as well have snow to make it feel more like Christmas.
Hi all, Jo was a little sad today as she didn't win the hat contest but she was still happy with her hat and wouldn't of changed it. I think she was more upset by the fact that the girl who won in her class didn't actually make her own hat, the girl had told them that her older sister who is studying design and fashion as well as art made the winning hat! Jo is very much a literal child so if they were told THEY should make the hat then that's what should happen and the person to win it should of made their own hat. The only thing she let me do was hold the hat while she decorated it and let me secure half a clothes hanger inside to keep the hat up when it was on her head, other than that I was severely told off if I even switched the lights on!!! 😨😨😨
Tell her your friends think she is a winner.. I tend to agree with her. The contest isn't fair if some of the participants have others make theirs. How can you take pride in winning something you didn't do? And what'd that teaching the kids. :/
Thanks to Mimikay for the teddy bear Christmas concept!! Not enough spoons for the big tree this year, but was able to manage 2 plugs. I bought these vintage🐼bears for triplets arriving in Feb (with 1 was already mine) and they were sitting in a drawer. They really brought a sparce holiday tableau to life, with the little singing Scottie dog we pretend is out old Cairn terrier Roscoe. He sings, "What a Wonderful World" when you shake his paw. Hubby delighted. Doesn't know I found a 5th one of these panda🐼bears for his stocking since he's always stealing mine! 👼Ho, ho ho!!🎅Merry Christmas!!!🎄🌠 Good Solstice🕯☃, Happy Hanukkah 🕎, et all!!
My aunt invited us to come to hers for a few days, it's been good to get away and yesterday my cousin brought his 3 kids over. They all decided to help decorate a gingerbread house.....most of the sweets didn't make it on to the gingerbread house tho!!!! 😂
And I got the best Christmas present EVER! I passed my boards! That super hard, super long test that I took last month...I PASSED!!! We went out to dinner to celebrate and my 12 yr old won this penguin for me out of a claw machine because he was proud of me :)
Cassie - fabulous passing of the boards! The world is lucky to have your passion it! Mimikay - I could just snuggle up w/that Sasha of yours! CurlyWurly - A Very Vader Christmas to you! Very Vader indeed!
