Pissed off doesn't even come close

So I had my surgeons appointment this afternoon. What a piece of crap that was. Got one small abscess lanced, but apparently my PCP failed to call their office about the belly pain. I felt about 2 inches small this afternoon. I tried explaining to the PA what was going on and she just basically ended up not listening to a word I had to say. My PCP had said this morning that what is going on is an inguinal hernia on the right side. That's what is causing me to be tender bellied, but the pa looked at me like I was crazy. She said that if there was a hernia there, it would be visible on imaging, but there was nothing on imaging. She basically just washed her hands of the matter. So 2nd opinion appointment is on Thursday morning. Might be thinking about switching surgeons if it comes to that. I feel totally disrespected at this point. It's like I don't even know my own body cues. If both my PCP and gyn can see pain in my face, then there's a problem. I'm so done with the stupid crap today. Just needed to get it out in the open before I snapped on someone.

I'm.sorry you have to deal with so muxh medically. Yes. Switching offices would probably be the best
If for nothing but your piece of mind. Someone has be able to find out why u keep having these issues u haveing procedure every other day is nuts. There is a better way out there and someone has to know what it is.

I hope you get a better outcome from your second opinion. I think we've all 'been there, done that', but that doesn't help you through your frustrating day. I hope you can breathe in calmness, pray (if you do) and be strong. You are your best advocate!! Continue to show your drs that you're a fighter and they need to be on board with you~ 100%.
Peaceful thoughts are being sent your way! :) Kathy

New, you are absolutely right. Nobody should have to live with this crap already. Tired, I'm just more annoyed then anything else. I know something is wrong. If I was begging my mom to take me to the ER on Sunday, she knew something was very wrong. And I was trying to hold it together this week so that my team couldn't see the pain in my face, but they also sensed something was not right. I have never, ever begged my mom to take me to the ER. That just doesn't happen with me. I'm just trying to decompress still. I have said that tomorrow will be a hibernation day. Good night.

At some point in our tortured medical journeys, more likely many times, we've had to DEFEND ourselves. Why? Well, earlier this week, I decided that I wasn't going to defend myself to a PA, I turned the tables on him. It became confrontational for a few minutes, but he finally got the message. Tell them it's your body and how would they feel if it was theirs? Tell them to guide you through these issues instead of giving you more crap. You deserve that and more.

Donamel, I'm actually taking my care in my own hands. If the PA didn't listen to me, what makes me think the surgeon actually will? Not a chance on it. I've never done that but I'm pissed off enough to do that just due to yesterday.

Amanda, I'm sorry you weren't through this. I know what it's like for them to dis you. Get a new surgeon and get respect. I just found out I have a sliding hiatal hernia causing my stomach to feel squeezed off and my food to back up. Per the docs description, "can make the patient feel as if her food is backing up, and a squeezing of the esophagus.". I'm planning to speak with my GI doc to correct it, but if he won't I'm seeing a surgeon. I'm convinced this has been the cause of food backup for several years. Hugs & prayers your second opinion goes very well for you! πŸ™‚πŸ™πŸŒΌπŸ’•

I am so sorry you are going through this. I understand. I had three hernias 2 and a half years ago. It took months to get diagnosed. I had two ultrasounds and was told it was a cyst on my ovaries. I have no ovaries after having a full hysterectomy in 2002. I had a lump the size of my fist on my left lower abdomen. It took 4 different doctors and my pain management doctor is the one that finally diagnosed me. I ended up having to self refer to a general surgeon who confirmed the diagnosis and agreed to do the surgery and check everything out while he was in there. I had to get angry too. I advocated for myself and finally was taken care of. I hope you get some relief soon.

Sapphire, not exactly sure what the hell is going on. Went in this morning and they referred me for another stat ct scan to again r/o appendicitis. Also got to add a new specialist to the bunch(urologist) because the surgeon said that the lab results showed blood in my urine. Just peachy. Getting ready to start Cipro for another uti on top of that. Surgeon tomorrow morning again to go over the plan. Right now I'm sick as a dog from the oral contrast. Just going to take it easy and not overdo.

Yes Amanda.resting is what u need. Do a session of your meditation. Find a good movie and just rest.

Sorry sweetie. Even though they could see my hernia on US, noone would say it was a hernia. Just keep advocating for yourself. I hope you get over being sick from the contrast soon. I do not really understand why they gave you contrast but I am guessing they are trying to rule out other problems. Good luck.

Sapphire, they are trying to rule out appendicitis with both oral and IV contrast. This is not pleasant at all.
