CatchMyPain Community and Pain Diary App to manage chronic illness

Please give our new app "Pain Companion" a try

Sep 11, 2015 9:17 AM

We may have given the impression to have become quiet, but...
We have been very busy and we have significantly improved our new "Pain Companion" app. It's now the time to invite you as well!

Our new app focus on the community features and allows you also to:
- find similar patients
- send private messages (often wished and finally here ;) )
- view a public profile
- and a lot more

You can't track your pain with drawings yet, but it will be added at some point in the future. For now you can track your daily mood and pain intensity together with a comment.
It's available for free for all Android users (an iPhone version will follow soon). Visit the Play Store to download it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sanovation.paincompanion . Although the app says "fibromyalgia", it actually is for all chronic pain patients. We will rename the app accordingly soon.

You can use CatchMyPain and Pain Companion at the same time, your data will be synchronized if you login with your existing CatchMyPain credentials.

Please post questions and feedback inside this topic but don't create new topics concerning Pain Companion. We will check back here regularly.

Thanks a lot and have a good experience
your CatchMyPain Team at Sanovation

I just downloaded the new app so far I'm loving it, but I had a problem remembering my password and they gave me a temp one and told me to change it once I got loged in but I can't find a place to do that. Help please and thank you.

Sep 11, 2015 5:04 PM

Thanks for the great app and for the improvements that you say are going to soon come.

What I'd like to see is the ability to add photos to my entries.

And I would like to see the ability to back up my data to some other server, something like my own home server 24 seven 365... And better yet the ability to export the database it contains my logs to a computer file that I can save on my computer for some drive or something like that so I know that if I have to restore from a different time. Or something like that I can choose between versions and choose what I would like while in iTunes sync.

Many thanks again for a great product!

Sep 11, 2015 6:07 PM

SufferNkind. I know that this is not the same as backing up to your personal server, but you can email your logs to yourself anytime for any period of time you choose and save your information that way. That is what I do. Hope that helps you out. If you do that you have to click the download link within the time frame or the link will not work.

Sep 11, 2015 7:58 PM

I downloaded the app, but how do you send someone a private message? Someone sent me one, but I can't figure out how to send one.

SuffererNkind has a good suggestion. But I'd like to be able to save my own community entries, maybe by our own entries being linked to our pain chart. I sometimes detail symptoms that isn't in my pain diary. 🙏🌼

Sep 11, 2015 8:02 PM

Yah, being able to save/download my community posts would be really helpful.

Sep 12, 2015 2:26 AM

There really needs to be a way to edit our posts. I hate sending out something with typos. This drives me absolutely nuts. Please add this soon!

Sep 12, 2015 2:29 AM

Flappy it is on the very first page where the settings are and only available on the new version.

Sep 12, 2015 2:33 AM

Flappy sorry that is where you read it. You click on the person's name and when their page come up it asks you if you want to say hello or send message. It really is easy but again n only available in new version.

Sep 12, 2015 2:43 AM

Daniel I know we spoke about the names being hard to read in neon green and your team is working on it. Thank you! Is there a way to make the font available in different sizes? Getting older sucks. Most programs gave that as a n option I n the settings but I am not finding it. Boy you hit your 40's and bam that hill is a slippery booger. As always thank you and your team for being active with the group.

Hello dear community

Thanks a lot already for all your feedback.
Some answers:
- there isn't a way to change the password in the new app, you can change it in CatchMyPain still.
- We will let you know, when we have an iPhone version, might need some time!
- To send private messages cleared itself ;) As a recap: To start a conversation visit user's profile, later you can continue an existing conversation in the "private messages" section in the menu

We will think/plan the following:
- edit option for posts (as long as no one replied, so not to break the thread/discussion)
- better color for some links, option to increase the font-size (which is hard because of limited space on a smartphone)
- an export/save as file feature for entries and/or community contributions. You can already find all of them on your own profile.

Keep your feedback flowing, we like to hear from you!
best regards

The problem I have is I do not have all the same data available on the 'new' program. The diagram, weather, symptoms, it just feels incomplete to me. I LOVE the ability to private message and the program is very pretty but I prefer the old version to chart on.

Sep 14, 2015 2:12 AM

Please note that "Pain Companion" is not meant as a replacement for the pain diary "CatchMyPain"!
If you want to track weather and all details, you will need to stick with CatchMyPain for the moment.
Pain Companion is optimized for the community/forum.

There is no problem to use both side by side. (See it as with facebook and facebook messenger, which are two apps as well.)

Trying to login and its not asking for existing info. How can I link the two or do I have to start over.

Sep 14, 2015 2:46 PM

Thank you catch mi pain I as able ro rest my password.

Sep 15, 2015 4:18 AM

@newfibrogirl: you can use your existing credentials by clicking "Already have an account?" when you start the app for the first time.

Just downloaded new app and am happily exploring it. If it works as advertised it should be great ☺

Sep 15, 2015 10:05 AM

I like the app. I think it's intuitive to use and easy to navigate. I'm not sure about the matching of pain diagrams as I, and probably others, have multiple conditions causing pain, so may only want to be matched for a particular condition and not others. However, I'm not sure how you could refine this using pain diagrams. Perhaps an option to match conditions by description?

I would prefer to have my pain endures and this community on one app rather than logging into different apps, but that's a personal preference. I like that you can track conversation threads across both apps.

Overall a great start and I will feedback some more one I've used the app for a longer period of time and had a chance to explore all the features .

Sep 15, 2015 10:24 AM

I can find my own conversations. I'd really like to be able to touch specific entries I've made, maybe like bookmarking in a book that save inside itself and can be referred to. But I also want to be able to email entries, of export to a computer file.

I do miss not having access to all in the pain companion. For some reason I'm having a hard time with it. Maybe it's just the mental stress in under right now. But thanks for all you've done! 🙏🌼

Sep 16, 2015 2:18 AM

Thanks again for all your replies

@chezza: you are matched according the drawing that you see in your profile. If you want to find other matches, you can always change the drawing to reflect a certain condition and check the new matches then. Some basic tracking can be already done in Pain Companion also.

@FlappysLady81: We will think about a bookmark and/or export feature. But cannot announce when it might be ready. Please let us know what still gives you a hard time with it.

best regards

I really like your app particularly the capacity of selecting the area of pain and grading the intensity with colors. I would truly love the option to enter what I was doing at the time of pain ex home, work, pushing, lifting, climbing exercising, laying on a particular side of my body etc would be great to have the option of entering what makes the pain worse or better. Thanks for your efforts

Is the companion available for the iOS system for iPhones?

Sep 19, 2015 9:48 AM

Looking forward to iPhone app. Please have a password "finger" I.D. Many people in this community suffer from memory problems. Passwords are a problem. Also, a button that takes you to the bottom would be great.

AlwayZ, I think they mentioned only the android version is available, but they're working on an IPhone version. 😢 Maybe soon!

CMP, I have another idea about exporting/emailing our data. It would be really awesome if there was a drop down menu so we could choose how much data to email. For instance, each time I've emailed myself it seems all my records, but it would be better and faster if we could make a choice of the following: 1, 3, 6, 12 months, of a year, of all. And I wish when the message says it's sending my data to storage, it wouldn't be taking up space on my tablet. But I would still be able to access all from a computer. Does this make sense? I'm not sure I'm explaining it will. Thanks for all your doing for us. 🙏🌼
