Prolapsed discs, sciatica and muscle spasms

Sep 07, 2017 3:03 PM

I have had a bad back now for a few months (lumbar). My leg/hip etc started to hurt and go numb, so I had an MRI scan and L4-L5 and S1-L5 are both prolapsed and pressing on nerves. Now all of a sudden the rest of my back has given up. My muscles in my shoulders, near my collar bones, my neck, my middle back and my lower back all seize up and ache/hurt every day. Sometimes to the point where I can't turn my head properly. My physio has only assessed my lower back so far, and she says I have lots of muscle spasms and knots, particularly on my left side where I also get sciatica. I'm going to see her tomorrow and tell her about the most recent pain. Why is this happening? :(

Sorry to hear about your pain. The back all works together and when one area isn't working then other areas overcompensate. It's awful and I feel bad for you. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.
