Pulsed Radiofrequency Neurotomy Experience

Mar 28, 2018 7:01 PM

So I got a PRFN (where they partially burned my sciatic nerve to dull the sensations I receive) done about 3 weeks ago now and I'd like to compare results/my experience with anyone else who's had it or anyone who might be interested?

For almost 2 days I felt like I was on cloud 9 pain free like a human again- and then WHAM.

I suddenly could bare move my body was spasming and my pain shot up to constant 8-9. I could barely eat coz the pain made the nausea so bad. This lasted for a little more than 10 days and the assured me that unfortunately this can happen and isn't abnormal (more notice would be nice...work hates me lol). Recently the nerve pain seems to have reduced, or changed like my pain was a radio playing and someone turned all the sound off except the base, which still pulses in my foot heavily.

I still have increased pain though in my hip and now creeping pain in my other leg which had never happened before . (I see my doctor after Easter to see if this is normal.)

I have heard that it can take weeks for the sensation to reduce entirely and that often this is a gradual process-
Although not from my pain management doc. I was wondering if anyone had this experience with it and if so what that was?

I've had it on my lower back and neck. They do it in 2 steps both places. They break it down on each side. So one week I had it on left and the next week on the right for example. It worked great on my back. Not so much on my neck. I had it last Spring on my back and I am still with a lot less pain.
