May 05, 2015 10:27 PM

Ice? Does it spread the disease or help it.. I was always told to stay away from something too hot or too cold. ✔or ✘?

Contrast baths can help foot/ankle/hand/wrist CRPS. the only reason that I have experience w this is I'm a PT. Everyone responds differently of course. Found that most people cannot tolerate straight ice.

I was told that contrast Ice/ heat is so severely bad for crps bc it ruins the sympathetic nerves even more
Than what they are. Most pt believe In it. mine did and that's what made it spread check out rsd hope.org it gives a wealth of crps info

I wasn't diagnosed with crps 14 years ago. The rule of thumb with crps is no ice...period. Ice tends to aggravate the condition and make things much worse. Like crippled33 stated www.rsdhope.org is a wonderful resource and they have a good deal of information specifically about why you should never use ice if you've been diagnosed with rsd/crps.
