Question for Doctor on the Forum or anyone who knows the Answer

Apr 02, 2016 9:33 PM

Does anyone know if the Fadio Frequency Ablation uses Radiation? It's for the spine. I sis some reading up on my hip problem and I think what I found explains it if the RFA uses Radiation.

I am sorry. Unfortunately I do not know . I hope you find the answer you are looking for.

The ablation is done with radio frequencies . Typically they use fluroscopy for guidance. The flurscopy is fancy x-ray that is in real time. The answer is YES. If you are concerned with excess radiation ask while they are prepping you for them to put shields over you. You may want to ask during your pre-op so they can get things together. Did you have any other questions?

The link I found might explain it I have more pain in my hip then anything, the pain and swelling in the rest of my joint seem like a cake walk compared to what's going on in my hip. I've been having issues walking around with it bugging me like it has the last couple of days and I went on a very long car ride yesterday and my friend who we saw yesterday told me that it really needs to be checked out before I see the Rheumatologist in June, so I did some digging on the internet last nigh and this is what I came up with and it explains everything, just praying I can do therapy vs the other treatment option it has, unless the osteoarthritis in my back has already settled in my hip which could possibly be. Because I do have osteoarthritis in my back.

Thank You LMB! I will be talking to my pain management doctor about pushing back the RFA until I can find out what is going on with my hip. What I found out last night was an eye opener for sure. The pain in my hip is so bad today that I bed bound except to use the ladies room. I didn't sleep a wink last night. Like I said earlier the rest of my joints pain is a cake walk for compared to the problems in the hip. I feel like I'm 80 year's old! Something has to give.

Talked to my PCP today, he did xray's and the osteoarthritis in my back did in deed settle in my hip. He also noticed that my hip is also starting to deteriorate. Thank You Mom lol.. Band Gene's. Sorry in the mist of the pain I have put a little laughter. So for now he said to stick with pain management and the RFA'S it may help. But one day soon I will need to see a hip doctor.. Not thrilled about that. Also had to get the heavy metal posing blood work done Again! Because the lab my insurance company uses keeps messing up, so I had my doctor's office in house lab do it and paid out of pocket for it. Also had to have blood work done for neuropathy. So we will see how it goes. Hope all my pain family is having a blessed day! Love, hugs and Prayers! 🙏💕
