"Your labs came back normal"

Sep 27, 2016 9:58 AM

I know I should be happy but my joints feel like they're on fire. What do you do when your labs are fine but your body just clearly is not?

Sadly most of us can relate. For instance Fibromyalgia is not something that shows up in lab work. Many doctors try to rule out everything else before considering a Fibromyalgia diagnosis.

So while it's a relief that nothing shows up in lab work it doesn't mean there is nothing wrong.

Other things such as Lupus and MS also may not show up at first. It can often take years. I have been told I am borderline Lupus because for years my lab work is inconclusive. My mom was the same way until she was 77. That's when the test for Lupus came back definitely positive.

Hang in there. I hope you have a Dr. that understands the chronic pain issues people face today. I hope they can find a treatment to help alleviate your pain or bring it down to a manageable level. Am so sorry you are dealing with this.

Schwa, I went through this for several years. It's frustrating to say the least. I just kept looking and seeing specialists and they would ask question and keep all the different test results together to show my regular doctor. It was after going to pain management and the neuro and rheumy doc that they put it all together. It's been a process and 23 years of finding out and having things confirmed. I've got a list as long as my arm of shit that's wrong with me and you're right, sometimes you wanna screem. Parience, positivity and determination. Because when you start getting the real diagnosis, sometimes you wish you were still being told you're normal.. {{Hugs}}💕

Thanks for the feedback and encouragement. I know I'll get answers eventually but I'm one of those people who likes having a name to go with the symptoms and it's driving me nuts!
