Random infections

Mar 27, 2016 11:01 AM

I was just wondering if anyone else with autoimmune disease gets random infections? I got my second one out of nowhere the other day. I okay in the am. By aft. High fever, chills and unbearable pain. Had to go to the clinic by evening. I have no idea where the infection was. Doc said my throat was swollen but I had no sore throat. He said my glands are swollen. They pain was all down my eight side. My ribs. I was concerned about kidneys too. Anyway I'm on heavy duty antibiotics.
I think swollen glands are a symptom of autoimmune disease as well. I'll be glad when I have my follow up and get a diagnosis in a couple of weeks.

Hi just been reading your post sorry your having a lot of infections it can be so miserable and worrying re what's going to kick off next sounds like your lymph system is not coping too well try drinking around the recommendations given of two litres of water in a day I drink two 500ml before lunch and the same by usually by six pm took me a couple of weeks to get to this amount on advise from a herbal person back who felt my system was not coping and I can honestly say I feel better in myself and have not been getting as many problems now x

Hi thanks. I can't do that as I don't have a bladder and I live with extreme frequency as it is. I just to be drinking fluid's as much as I can when I'm home. My whole system is a mess I haven't been diagnosed yet. I have a follow up apt. In two weeks where I will be. They're saying Lupus, Scleroderma, and sjogrens.

Gibber, I feel Ike this randomly but they always give me steroids, not antibiotics. I have Sjogrens, and it took nearly 3 months to feel better from the last episode.. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs & prayers you will! 🙂💕🙏🌼

I also get strange infections just out of the blue. Never just a simple sniffle or UTI, straight to holy crap am I sick. I completely believe it is all connected back to my autoimmune issues. I try to let my food be my preventative medicine.

Have you seen an endocrinologist? I had similar i felt flu like then the autoimmune hives started. No answers yet but some blood tests have shown some possible issues. I go to endocrinologist next week

Hey everyone sorry you can relate. Flappy steroids for infection? They scare me. I'm sure my treatment regime will be different when I'm diagnosed in couple of weeks. Sjogrens, lupus and Scleroderma are strongly suspected. Shamm I haven't been to an endocrinologist but I probably should. Maybe I'll ask the Internist when I see him. LMB you too eh? :-(. That was totally it. One min. Okay and the next on the floor sick out of nowhere.

Gibber, whenever I get sick it seems to settle in my sinuses and chest. After several attempts to get me over it with other treatments, they always have to give in and give me prednisolone tabs or an injection. My body is paying for the steroid use because I've now got osteopenic bones. Even without the additional steroid treatments, two of my asthma meds have steroids, which I've been on since 2001. My PCP has "long term steroid use" as a secondary diagnosis in my charts. I can't take the Dex-pack steroid though. It sent me into roid-rage, and it wasn't pretty! Lol Hopefully you will get your dx soon, and then they can find the right treatment for you. Hugs & prayers it's very soon! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Oh man. That's brutal. It fixes one thing and causes other worse things. Hubby and talked a lot about and I've decided to decline that med if they want to treat me with it. I'll ask for other options. Sinus and chest infection sucks. I have no idea where my infection was this time. I just got on antibiotics right away I was so sick and fevered. Thanks so much. 2 weeks seems like forever away right now ha!

I'm 54 and according to my bone scan my bone mass is that of a 60+ year old, with a risk of fracture in the next 5 years. Avoid it as long as possible, because I'm sure it's the cause of most of my bone loss.

Oh man not good. I will. I'm just too scared of it.

Gibber, have you moved latley? Have you changed anything about your home? Or have you changed anything about how you make your homemade products? Just trying to think out loud here, start a little investigation like HOUSE MD does on The TV series? Sounds kinda dumb but maybe even the smallest thing can trigger lymph nodal and cellular systems to start fighting off what your body thinks is foreign and not healthy..,love ya!!!!Terri

I haven't changed anything that I can think of. The first infection we were in an extremely stressful time trying to move, Hubby a mess..but this last infection no changes just getting busier with the business. Now I've had a wicked reaction to the antibiotics I was on. May need meds now to deal with that. Sigh. I've also been having a lot of trouble breathing and it's not anxiety related. Doc knows a bit and I've had a bunch tests done and Interest in 8 days for my follow up apt. Where I'll probably be diagnosed. I'll let him know what's been going on.Thanks Terry. How are you?

Apr 03, 2016 11:53 PM

I am have been dealing with neck and lumbar spine pain. Have a procedure on the 12th that will hopefully help and another set of MRIs of thoracic and lumbar spine. Pain has finally leveled off. So I am better, thank you for asking!

Apr 04, 2016 8:52 AM

Wow. Ouch! I hope the procedure helps. I'm glad you're getting an MRI.
