I wrote this tonight because I couldn’t stop thinking about how it affects me and my family being only 14 and have having it for 7 years now.
What is CRPS?
It’s laying in bed crying because the pain is unbearable it’s telling people you sprained your ankle badly when you know dam well that it’s just your crps
It’s telling your mom you can’t ride your horse or go to cheer practice because it will be to pain full
It’s spending endless hours in the emergency room crying telling the nurse that the meds won’t or are no helping
CRPS is not the enemy it’s your own brain
It’s your brain telling you that you broke a bone or you sprained your ankle, wrist or even that you broke your back when you know it’s not true
CRPS is asking your mom to look into getting a service dog to help you when you have a flare up but in reality you just have to wait it out
Crps is your Mom looking sad because she doesn’t want to see you in pain anymore and your dad having a breakdown because he wants to help you but he can’t it’s your stepdad asking if your okay and you say yes and smile but on the inside it feels like someone is stabbing you
It’s your sister and her boyfriend coming over to sit on the couch with you or they take you to your doctor appointment when it’s not thier job
Crps is your stepmom sitting next to you until you fall asleep because she wants you to be okay
It’s your stepsister bring you food and watching you while your parents work
Crps affects everyone in my life but complex regional pain syndrome will not control it!

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear that... I know how hard it is I'm 50 an I cry slot, my hair came out, feel depressed, an different parts of my body swells, stay in pain, an I find myself saying over an over again I'm in pain to my family an it's like I get phone calls every once in awhile because they are tired of hearing about I'm in pain and nothing that they can do. Stay prayed up an I wish you the best threw your journey!!!😊

Oh boy do I get where your coming from. I'm 18 and my pain started when I was 15. Relying on family is hard especially when you want to move on.

I don't have CRPS, but I have an undiagnosed Chronic pain condition that I've been living with since I was 8 (I'm now 19). What you have wrote is exactly how the past 11 years has been for me. It's so hard being a teenager and not being able to exercise or play sports because of the pain, but strangers and doctors tell you you're just lazy. Horsesnuggler12, please remember that it's not your fault you have this condition, you are trying your best, and please remember that who you are is not defined by your condition.

horsesnuggler12: Wow!!! Soon young and dealing with soo much. Been there and wore the T-shirt. You are doing one thing that I didn't do, but know after all these years I know what is really important. That is to write your feelings down, can't write??? record it. Let people love you, more love and prayers go a longing way. Keep smiling and riding.
Oh, you don't necessarily need a service dog, but a dog for you, will be great. I got a dog and she became my service dog on her own. I guess...I rescue her now she rescues me.

Hey Horsesnuggler: I always wished I had the power to heal people. I would take it on myself if it was possible. I wish nobody had to live with pain. Your so young to be talking and writing like fifty year old. I really feel for you..... Hang in there. The one thing I will tell you is you are your own advocate! Make sure you tell them how you are hurting and how it is affecting you mentally.
Not everyone unstands what the can't see, Doctor's included.
