Really, really bad day...

Feb 02, 2016 11:55 AM

I went out with my friend yesterday for lunch and did too much walking, now today I hurt so bad I have been crying. 😢 I really missed spending the whole day out, it was SO NICE! Now I'm seriously paying for it. This makes me feel even more trepidation about the house we're buying... it needs a lot of work. My pain doc actually agreed to give me extra meds for 2 months so I could help with painting and small things (I'm just as shocked as you all)... now I'm wondering how much help I will really be. All I did yesterday was walk around a level graveyard to help find a grave... and only one section. 😕 I don't know how this is going to play out now. A bit of good news... my disability hearing is on the 9th.

I'm sorry your hurting after your good day out. It's not much fun when in pain And causes tears. Have you considered getting a mobility scooter. I bought a 2nd hand one and it's great. It folds up in the car which is good. I am now getting used to using it, only been on it 3 times so far. To give you a laugh, hubby took me out and went into a dept store and as I was going round my wheel caught a clothes rail and started dragging it around the shop. The assistant was lovely though. If you can get one it will make your life so much better. I'm nearly 56 and felt like I'm too young to use one but I tell you, you won't look back. Maybe even hire one for a week or so. Good luck with your disability on the 9th. Are you in the UK. You will have to let me know how it went, mine will be later this year.

No, I am in the US... Indiana. I am only 44. I will use a scooter if we're out at a store and I'm in a lot of pain, but I can't see getting a scooter already. Of course, all of this pain just kinda set in over the last 4 or 5 years so I think I'm still kind of on the fence with the "I'm not letting it take over my life!" Kinda thing and just wallowing in self-pity. Lol. I just haven't had a day this bad in ore than a month and you know that feeling when it's been awhile.... lol. You hope maybe it's going to be awhile longer, but yet you know it's coming 👀

SerenaSills, I'm sorry your fun has caused so much pain. At times of pain, caused from activities, it makes me not want to do anything ever again! Lol But was can't give in and let it control everything.

After my 2010 surgery that left me unable to work, and before my fibro dx in 2012, we had a horrible water leak between the kitchen and bathroom. We'd had the asbestos flooring removed and decided to rip out the cabinets & replace them. That's when we found the leak, so we had to gut the kitchen. It nearly killed me doing the painting and laying/grouting the floor tile. Every night I'd be in tears trying to sleep. It took nearly 2 months to complete the kitchen. I ended up at the ER for a horrible migraine, triggered room painting. I had chosen to paint the trim & baseboards, meaning I was teaching overhead & squatting or kneeling constantly. The overhead painting triggered the migraine, and the squatting/kneeling triggered where leg cramps & spasms.

I would suggest you painting the walls, using an extended roller, and leave the above & below painting to others. Take frequent breaks, every 15-20 minutes, to do gentle stretching and rest. Pace yourself. If you have friends, family, or others (church family, coworkers) who offer to help, take them up on it. Hugs & prayers you'll be able to have help throughout the whole process. 🙂🙏💕🌼

SerenaSills, I am sorry that you are having such a bad day. One thing I would suggest is to try to distract yourself by thinking about the wonderful day you had.. I know that when I go out and do stuff and laugh and enjoy, the next day I'm miserable. I hope that as the day goes by and as the next few days come by, you feel much better. I'm sending you gentle {{{Hugs}}} and prayers that you can lean on us and hang on while this bad spell passes over.💕🙏🏻🌻
