RFA's are they good or bad?

Jul 21, 2016 7:11 PM

Dr. Fouradoulas never addressed Moparmoms questions & concerns about RFA treatment of spinal nerve, in his post "A Spine Surgeon's ...On Pain" post. I would like anyone's input with experience on this topic. After my spinal stenosis and C3-C4 fusion next month, the doctor has mentioned doing RFA's on the facet & foramina stenosis involved nerves. From everything I've heard or read, I think it's prefer to have them removed parts of the bone in those joints that are causing pressure & pain. I think it's called foramina Tony or something like that. AlwayZ knows because she has them. Anyone have opinions? πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΈ

I don't know much about that Flappsy but I would rather have the bone trimmed down or removed than go in that direction. I hope your surgery goes well for you and that you heal quickly and completely. I will be praying for you each and every day and sending you positive vibes, much love and of course, my friendship. You're a strong lady, Flappsy!! I know you got this.πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

I have had several RFA'S but with the radiation I have my concern's, I have checked Back often to see if he responded but I know that they are busy and do this on thier own time. But if you can avoid it, I would, simply because of the radiation and the the fact that it may or may not take. If it does it lasts for the mist part for me anyway is 6 months at a time.

Like AlwayZ said, I prefer the shaving/trimming away of the bone. I wonder if the radiation would affect my already osteopenic bones?

It may, you might want to do do talking with your doctor about it and do your own research as well as we are our own advocates!πŸ˜‰

Thank you everyone, for your honesty, unlike the doctors who evade telling us the honest truth! I at least have 2 months of researching before he plans on treating the other discs (C2 & C7 I think). Hugs love & prayers for a good day with as little pain as possible for all! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΈ
