ScaryAnn is still kicking (not literally kicking, but you get my drift. LOL)

Aug 27, 2019 11:22 AM

Hey all,

I don't know where the time went! I've been so busy since my tablet died on me. As many of you know I started weaving chainmaille. Well, I started selling it at local Farmer's Markets too. Last summer we did three markets per week... By the end of September it was all I could do to walk. Thankfully I was able to recover October - May with only a handful of craft shows during that time. This year we cut it back to one market per week, until we were talked into going to two a week. August is almost over, now to just get through September with two per week, and then in October we scale back to one/ week.

But anyway, I got my AFO!!!! I've been trying to get some kind, any kind really, of bracing for my feet and ankles. Well I finally got a doctor to agree that I needed something for my right foot and ankle. So in January I got my fantastic AFO. I LOVE this thing. It is one of the first things on in the morning and the last thing off at night.

We did a craft show this spring, we sold enough to pay for the set-up fees and all that until we ran over my phone with the Jeep... Let's just say that the Jeep won, but the new phone was only $50. A new screen would have been $30, so we went with a new phone.

Weaving chainmaille has improved the pain in my hands so much that I don't even wear my ring splints anymore! It's a very fine line though between weaving enough to help and weaving too much and making my hands hurt again.

I've got some weaving to do now. :D I'll try not to let it go so long before I update again.

It's good hearing from you ScaryAnn. Good luck with all you are doing.

Our set up at the market

Glad you found time to update us ScaryAnn, because I've been thinking about you. That's great news on getting your AFO for your ankle & foot! My sister broke her ankle years ago and they had to remove the pins because of allergic to the titanium. Her ankle is constantly turning over and it makes her feel. I'm going to show her this picture and see if she can get her doc to order one.
Sorry to hear about the Jeep v/s phone, but at least it wasn't the Jeep that lost πŸ˜‰LOL You've been busy crafting. Post a picture of the weaving chainmaille you're doing. I've never heard of it. Best wishes on more sales!!
Hugs love & prayers for rest between the markets! πŸ™‚β€πŸ™πŸŒΌ

My other half actually makes the silver colored rings. He starts off with a spool of wire, coils it onto a mandrel then puts the coil through a special saw that cuts the coils into individual rings. Then we use two pair of pliers to weave each ring into jewelry and even clothing.

I have strengthened my hands to the point that I don't wear my ring splints anymore.

Here's the beginning of a stainless steel project. I made a chainmaille pot scrubber for cast iron frying pans.

My kitty wearing a chainmaille collar she insisted that she needed.

The snake is rather cool & unique! Although I'm not a fan, my daughter's whole family loves them! They had 8 pets at one time but are now only keeping 3; the fascination wore off with the kids and my daughter...lol. Keep sharing your awesome talent! πŸ™‚β€πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Autumn earrings I wove yesterday. 722 20g 3/32" rings and 4 hours.

I like that! Those colors would be cool looking in a crescent Moon shape if you can get the design, or a pumpkin or cat. πŸ˜‰

I just finished my sleep apnea follow up. I've gone from 88 episodes per hour to two! Huge improvement. :)

Market season is winding down. I'm exhausted, but at least I'm still on my feet. This is the necklace I finished last night. Stainless steel. Now I'm working on one in aluminum.

My great niece likes Aunt MeAnn's shinies.

The cold air of Autumn has me aching bad today. I'm so not looking forward to winter. :(

Oct 24, 2019 4:32 PM

I feel it too ScaryAnn; these 40s in the morning make made ache!

Nov 09, 2019 10:31 AM

I am no fan of cold weather. I can't even point to a spot that doesn't hurt. :(

My newest headdress. I took a tumble on the ice and had to take a week off. This was my first project once I could hold my pliers again. About 14 hours of weave time.

My newest dragon

Mar 09, 2020 9:35 AM

We had our first show of the season Saturday. It wasn't our best one ever, but it wasn't bad. I was a hurting unit yesterday though. Today isn't as bad pain wise.

How adorable!

We are entering the low 70s for the next 4-5 days, just what my bones & joints need. You try and stay warm!
