In case anyone noticed I haven't been around much lately, I'm still here and still stalking the forums nightly, just haven't had much to say.

I have been able to increase what I eat, I'm finally up to 1800 calories a day! Some days I even reach 1900! Some days are harder than others, but I'm working on it. I even get hungry now and then. I haven't felt hunger pains in so many years, I forgot what they felt like. (For those that don't know, I was eating up to 800 calories a day for decades and weighed 300 lbs) I'm now down to 280 pounds, I never dreamed I would lose weight by eating more. I'm starting to have the energy to do things again, but then I pay for it in much increased pain levels. :(

I got my hands on a pair of pretty puce (pinkish-purple) colored forearm crutches so I am hoping to start hiking easy trails again soon. Not today though, my right leg feels like I have run a marathon. I've done more in the last three days than I normally do in a week! That's how much my energy has increased. Today I am going stir crazy because I want to be outside doing something, anything, but my leg hurts so bad I want to cry. Therefore I'm sitting on the love seat with my leg elevated to give it a break. I did make pizza for lunch though. ;)

A friend whom I haven't seen in a few years passed away at the beginning of the month, she was in her early 50s. I don't know how she passed, but she leaves behind a son in his early teens.

Rick's 97 year old Grandfather passed away this past week as well. So it's been a rough week, but we made it threw.

I guess that's everything, just wanted to let you all know that I'm still here and haven't abandoned any of you. :)

ScaryAnn, I am so very happy to hear that you are doing well. Congrats on the 20 pounds!! It's an awesome start. I don't get hungry either and yet I'm over 300 pounds. I can't eat if I'm not hungry. Then your body goes into starvation mode and holds everything you eat causing weight gain. I also had my thyroid removed 16 years ago due to Grave's Disease and that totally screwed me up. I gained a lot of weight since then and that is how I got where I am now. Please try not to stay away too long. We start to wonder what's going on and if you're ok. Alwayz, that was one of my biggest problems (eating when I wasn't hungry) That's why the first time my stomach growled at me after I hadn't eaten for three hours without even thinking about it, I told it to "shut up, you'll get food when you get food" Then I laughed at myself, duh it's trying to tell you something here. LOL Then I got up and got it a small snack. It stopped yelling at me then. :)

Scaryann, I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. It's good you've lost weight. My weight coach told me to cut back my calories, so I'm confused as to how increasing causes loss. I'm barely eating 1500 calories and rarely feel hungry. I'm at 200 now and "obese" officially, thanks to my rheumy doc. Unless my body defeats me at every turn I'm going to make her eat her words in 6 mod at the follow up... Then I'm changing docs! Lol. Hugs & prayers you get the rest you need. Flappsy, the loss with increasing calories works for me because I was so severely under eating for so long. My body was "holding on to" everything I grudgingly gave it. I've learned that if you eat at a large deficit for too long your metabolism will slow down. It took me almost a year to increase my calories by 1000 a day. I'm starting to have energy again, but then go nuts because I want to be up moving around, but pain won't let me. Doctors like your rheumy are why I was even at 800 calories a day and gaining weight till over 300 lbs. It was my nutritionist who finally put me on the right track.
