sciatic nerve and nerve blocks

Nov 07, 2015 6:27 PM

Has anyone had nerve blocks to help sciatic nerve pain? Mine was nicked during surgery so it never eases off and I don't know what is going to happen if I top out on gabapentin. Taking 800 mg 4 x day.

Hi Cearea, yes I had injections directly into the SI joint. Seems to have worked cause I haven't had any appreciable issues with it since then. Have never taken gaba so can't be that much help with it.

Thanks. I'll talk to my Dr. about it

Cearea, I had the ESI's for sciatica in June-July 2012 & Nov-Dec 2013. I'm just starting to have sciatica again. I also received them for cervicogenic & migraine headaches, and thoracic pain. I'm scheduled to see my pain specialist next week. And I hope he will do the blocks again. I also got facet blocks (a series of 3injx), and the first caused more pain, and the injx reduced the pain more with each one.

Use ice, or chilled rice/bread packs for 24-48 hours (on 20, off 20 min rotations) to help reduce the injx pain site & swelling. I hope and pray they will work as well for you! 🙏🌼
