Serotonin levels & Fibromyalgia pain

Sep 16, 2015 5:04 PM

In January I started seeing a new psych doctor. I was on Nortriptyline, 25 mg. Over the course of the months he ran blood tests to check my serotonin levels, and each month he would increase my dosage another 25 mg, until I was at 75mg. I asked why he did this and he said that there's a link between low serotonin levels with both sleep issues and levels of pain, especially fibromyalgia. I did notice that the pain levels weren't as intense on flare ups, but I was also speaking better.

Today I was reading a book, "Living Well With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome And Fibromyalgia" by Mary J Shoman. I came across a section where she specifically talks about the low serotonin levels and fibro connection. I've just started reading the book but it's going to be very interesting. She's written several other books and she suggested from chronic pain. 🙏🌼
