Severe lower back pain

Feb 10, 2016 10:11 PM

My lower back hurts a lot and it makes popping noises as well as me feelin the pops and cracking. I have yet to get and MRI but it hurts so much that it effects me standing or walking.

Feb 11, 2016 4:34 AM

I know how this is my entire spine is this way. The pain in my hips can be excruciating, who would think spine pain would come around to the front of your hips. I was in PT but what helped one issue hurt the other. I asked just to work on spine strengthen exercises and that has helped a small degree. The popping and clicking drive me nuts and the pops can hurt terribly. A MRI would definitely answer it most insurances require PT, and xrays before they will do the mri.

Lord I researched lower back exercises and have been doing them and trying to fight thru the pain. But my lower back kept me up till after 2am and then while I was sleep I moved and the popping had me jumping out the bed for the aleve. This is not normal I know something is wrong with it. Unfortunately for me I don't have insurance. I have been asleep for close to 4 hrs. My goal is at least 6 but not lately, my buttocks hurt and I can barely walk. It's my biggest pain area besides my joints. And don't get me started on the hip pain. My hips wake me every night where I gotta adjust how I'm sleep.

Perhaps a trip to the emergency room can get you a quicker MRI.

Feb 11, 2016 3:48 PM

Donamel is right they wouldn't do an mri of my thorasic spine because "it is highly unlikely" for there to be an issue there without a recent accident. I quit taking my pain meds and over did it until I was crying, moaning and almost screaming in agony. Trip to ER immediate MRI and the biggest issue with my spine was found. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. I am not sure of your location but most hospitals have a program that will reduce your medical bills. You didn't mention if you work and if you don't or have limited income is there a free insurance option?

Feb 11, 2016 4:22 PM

I have tried to get them to do one and can't. I was going to just show how bad I'm hurting instead of holding it in and tell them I can barely walk or stand. Anymore suggestion on trying to get them to do it. Cause it's bad enough that it's always a 10-12hr wait just to be seen.

Feb 11, 2016 10:41 PM

I would def check Could even be a herniated disc.

Feb 11, 2016 11:40 PM

I also have severe pain in my lower back. If I move a certain way, twist, lean...omg it feels like I am being stabbed or I'm going to go paralyzed..
I have a bad L5, and my S1 and S2 have progressive Arthritis.
I have been unable to do much in the past 6 days solid, I hurt 24/7.

Feb 12, 2016 7:15 AM

No I don't have insurance and they do have a charity program where the hospital bill gets paid

Feb 12, 2016 7:54 AM

I am sorry you are in so much pain. Have you tried going to the ER to get an MRI?

Feb 12, 2016 12:32 PM

Yes Autoimmunerrrrr and they won't do one not even a cat scan only X-rays.

Feb 12, 2016 12:34 PM

See the weather is freezing rain so my back is killing me and my joints. I have had slot of kidney infections that I kept think it was my kidneys but now I know it's my lower back.

Feb 12, 2016 4:20 PM

Did the xray show anything? I don't have one good disc in my spine, multiple herniations (with spinal stenosis) arthritis so forth it showed on the xray then they did the lower mri. It was only the thorasic mri I had a hard time getting. Look into the program that will help pay at the hospital. Do you qualify for free insurance? Not being able to work I had to get state medicaid. Don't know what I would do without it but it is a headache to deal with and has severe limitations

Feb 12, 2016 6:29 PM

My lower back is so bad. Feels like it's giving out at times. I have to lie in the floor at work to relieve the pain.

Feb 12, 2016 10:14 PM

No I don't qualify for Medicaid in this stupid state of NC. And the last time I had an X-ray it just showed arthritis.

Feb 13, 2016 12:22 AM

I don't know if this will help you til you get answers but have some real issues with my lower back. But I use those thermacares heating pads. It is like having a heating pad on you all day for when you walk and rest. This can hurt you if heat hurts you. So I sorry if I am giving you bad advice. I was just sharing something that worked for me. Best wishes on getting your answers and reduced pain.

Thank you Profiler

Feb 13, 2016 9:08 AM

Painelady, Arthritis in the back causes a lot of pain. I have OA, facet stenosis, and degeneration all down my spine. Weather changes affect it. I microwave most washcloths then put them in zillions, and lay on them. I oppose you can get some relief soon. Hugs, love, & prayers! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΌ

They have great prices on those at Costco. Maybe they have them at Sams Warehouse. But at Costco I get 6 of those for 14.99. I just thought if you didn't have a membership and it was close by, maybe you could have a friend pick them up for you.

Feb 13, 2016 10:28 AM

If you are talking about the thermacare, yes they are. They are made for the low back they are supported by a belt that is clasped by Velcro. They are heating pockets all around the low back. Hope that answers your question

Feb 13, 2016 11:51 AM

Today I have to move everything out of a kitchen because my mom sold her house. My sister owes me $10 I need to pick up tramadol that don't even work. My back is already hurting I will definitely be going to the ER after this.

I also have severe back pain..have escalated arthritis in my S1 and s2. Nothing helps, it's 24/7 pain.

Feb 14, 2016 5:26 AM

I'm sorry to hear your in so much pain. I have lower back trouble and I bought a special cushion that looks like a horseshoe so no pressure on lower back. Bought mine from Amazon. Great especially when in wheelchair

Feb 14, 2016 6:33 AM

Painedlady so sorry to hear you are in pain. You described the exact pain I am having, too. I had an SI injection which helped a little. Pain came back with a vengeance. I too live in NC, and I have been trying to get the VA to help, but all they keep pushing is physical therapy, I have a full time job and I cannot afford to keep missing work. Doctors must think you can survive on just one income, but anyway...keep us informed. I hope you feel better. Have you tried a TENS unit? Sometimes I have hubby place pads on my back and I just keep it on, I know you don't suppose to, but it makes me feel better.

Feb 14, 2016 11:01 AM

Tense are you in Fayetteville?

Feb 14, 2016 11:14 AM

Feb 14, 2016 2:07 PM

Feb 14, 2016 8:51 PM

Your tongue?/okay , can you in some ice ? Maybe some throat lozengers may help. I am so sorry you are in a flare. I will be praying right now for relief for you... Love, Terri

Feb 14, 2016 8:53 PM

Been sucking in Popsicles all day and drinking water cause I just can't quench my thirst. This SjΓΆgren's syndrome is a pain for real.

Feb 14, 2016 8:56 PM

Try Powerade or Gatorade sometimes that will quench the thirst. Your body is craving something specific... Hang in there, I got prayers for you going upnright now!

Feb 15, 2016 12:52 PM

Painedlady, omg I so know what you mean about the sjogrens tongue burning! I had a flare up about 4 weeks ago, which started with Sjogrens pinprick blisters all inside my mouth. It was on fire!!! Luckily I had some lidocaine viscous solution from a previous tooth issue, and it helped numb the pain for me to sleep. The next morning the blisters were gone but I had the whole body aches & fatigue that lasted 2 weeks. Sadly, the blisters returned yesterday, so I'm apparently relapsing or going into another flare. Call your doc and see if they'll write you a script for the lidocaine solution. I hope you can get some relief spoon. Hugs!! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΌ
