Good morning, Quick question. I have had 3-4 really good pelvic pain days but this weekend has been absolutely stinking awful. Was given a script for Provera which I have been taking daily. Was given no instruction as to what to do if pain increases which it has but only a wee bit. My concern is, it's beginning on the right side as well, but not as bad as the left. Is this something that I need to report to my gyns office on Monday or can it wait? So confused!
Have you looked into endometriosis? My doc's are concerned about it because of years of pelvic pain and that its gotten debilitating some days. If you are feverish then worry about your appendix... But my gut says is a girl-problem. Just a suggestion.
I have had horribly painful cysts on my right ovary that sent me to the ER... They were pretty sure it wasn't my appendix which it wasn't... But it had me laid up. Apparently the cyst is still there a year later. Docs doing the diagnostic surger in a month... If it gets too much I would go to ER regardless of a fever or not regardless. Getting some relief is worth the hassle to me.
Amanda, I would definitely call to let the doctor know. But if it becomes severe then go to the ER. Have you ever taken progress before? Maybe it's causing the increase. After my first child I couldn't use BC pills. When I had my hysterectomy I was change from one type hormone replacement to another, and my body just didn't work well with any. Just before my bilateral oophorectomy I had to get 2depo-provera shots, to try and shrink 2 cysts. I was a banshee!! I couldn't even stand myself. The docs say I'm extremely sensitive to meds... Ya think?!? 😵 Lol. I hope this will level out and help you soon, but yeah a call to the doc is what is do. Hugs & a prayer! 🙏🌼
I have taken Provera before so I don't really think it's that and I really don't think it's coming from my back either but if it gets any worse this week, I will call! There is not sense in living like this right now.
Amanda, I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope it isn't the meds but speaking from my experience, you can take a med for a while and then go back to it and have adverse effects from it. That of course is something you and your doctor would have to discuss. I don't know what the side effects of that medication are but i do know what is like to feel those pains in the abdomen.
Oh have you had a full work up done about your bladder and I don't know what your other situation is like but adenomysis can be very painful for many days of the month. I hope that you can figure out the pain. But definitely call doc and let them know what's going on. If it gets too bad, go to the ER. I agree is worth the hassle to make sure it isn't anything serious and just to rest comfortably (i know some people say passion isn't an emergency but i don't think they've felt pain. Plus pain is our body's warning system). Best of luck!
@Flappys, I am similar very sensitive to many meds. I remember the agony of depo and wouldn't wish it upon anyone not any of the other lovely side effects (aka adverse effects) that i get work just normal Tylenol and over the counter pain relievers. The doctor wants to do a double oopherectomy on me when I'm ready. (in ready now but I would love to have a kid or two but that's for another post and another time).
Kitty, I don't know if I have adenomyosis or not, but he is pretty certain it is endometriosis. Doesn't want to do a diagnostic laproscopy right now until we have no other options left in terms of medications to try and strangely enough, I'm okay with that. Right now, I'm only on the Provera to make my cycle stop cause that's when the pain is worse,
I understand. I tried change in diet and waiting it out. I wasnt ready for the laproscopy until my doctor realized i may have interstitial cystitis and the only way to know for sure was a cystoscopy. I don't know if there's a way to message you but if there is I'll try to find it.
But my pain was always worse around the cycle time. He thought i could have endo but i didn't. Hoping for the best for you.
Kitty, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org(please do not share) if you have any more suggestions. I'm at a loss right now. Already sent in a request for an appointment via the gyns online patient portal. Should know something in the am I hope.
Don't know your age or interest in having any kids but I had several cysts rupture caused severe pain and endometriosis. Fought for years the pain horrific. Bled for over a year non stop ( honest). Finally after 3 units of blood and hysterectomy followed by 3 more units of blood I no longer have that problem. Just wish Dr done sooner. Good luck
Sorry to hear that. Might consider the hysterectomy my Dr wouldn't so I went elsewhere and got it approved to see surgeon. He was surprised I was able to walk much less work. Been pain free every since. Wish you well
Amanda, I would definitely look into it asap after reading a book titled Dr. John Lee's Hormone Balance Made Simple which talks about the side effects of Provera and other synthetic hormones. It also talks about dosing and natural, or "bioidentical" hormones. Just reading some of the risks made me shiver, but that's me. I'm currently supplementing thyroid (raw tissue in a pill form), Iodine, and a Progesterone cream that is over the counter. It seems to be helping my body stabilize. Good luck.
Also, I forgot to mention this, but are you at an age where you realistically should not have a period? I tried some hormone pill recently, made my roommates and my period 10 days late. This time, we had super long, 12 days, extremely painful periods. It really sucked. We are teens, and should be having periods.
Ok, I'm just wondering because my goal is to get periods that don't make me miss a day or 2 of school per month, and lose a ton of blood. My roommate and I have managed to regularly go through a "6 month the supply" of pads in a month.
Ferretbandit, I know this is graphic question but do you pass clots when you have your period? If so, please get to your gyno right away. I have had that problem since i was 13 and it only got worse. Wasn't until i was in my 30s I was finally diagnosed and treated for it. I never knew it wasn't normal to pass clots.
Yes.. go to doctors... my period lasted for 2weeks.. I was 17... before I could get to doctor was throwing up blood went to e.r. turned into 3weeks in hospital..found out I had a tumor on my stomach that had grown big enough to tear my stomach lining and also was cancer...was internally bleeding not trying to scare you... just go...
I'm not sure if I pass clots, don't even really know what's normal except talking about periods recently, comparing with my stepmom...I'll definitely get it checked out asap, hopefully I can get out of my current clinic so the referral could actually work instead of taking a year and a half, plus dozens of phone calls. Amanda, I'm glad you got an appointment.
Piper, after you had your hysterectomy, did your pelvic pain completely stop? My cycle has stopped with the Provera. Just can't get the discomfort to stop already. It's mainly on the left side but I'm feeling it sneak down to the right side and in front over top of my bladder.
Kitty, I can't tell what this is that's bothering mine but it needs to go the hell away already!!! Feels like pain on the outside of my bladder but above it. Going to try this thIng they call sleep again. Have a good night.
