I've got to shower, as I have a family event to go to today (yay...two days of family events -_-) but I'm already in enough pain as it is and I'm so very unmotivated to do ANYTHING. Does anyone have any tips to make showers more bearable?

M24601, I use a shower chair to sit on & I have a shower head that I can remove and hold in my hand or let dangle beside me while soaping or shampooing. I also rest between the shower & drying my hair & dressing. It helps w my busitic shoulders & my neck.

M24601.... There HAS to be a reason that I saw this post right now. I'm in the same predicament. Not that I'm going anywhere until early tomorrow morning, but I can't get myself the inertia to get up and get in the shower. My pain is aggregious and I'm cold with chills because I'm sweating from pain and my room is cold. (Who the heck wants to take their clothes off and get wet when you're cold??) you should get a shower chair so you don't get energy sucked standing up. I have one for my Dad and I forget it's even there. What I need is someone to tell me how to ease the anxiety when you're feeling so aweful that meds aren't doing it, your so tired, you feel drunk and you have yet another new pain. I hope you have an awesome time at the Baby Shower!!! πŸ’•

And maybe plan for a little rest after your shower....standing a hot stream of water actually helps loosen my neck and shoulders. I bought myself some bath salts and use that ( has a great scent) to treat myself.

Hi Everyone,
Oh! I so know what you mean. I have done everything I can to make showering less exhausting. I have a chair in the shower. My shower has two heads one for high up standing and one for sitting. I also have a blow heater positioned high up near the ceiling ( away from the shower itself!!, but in the bathroom) and it faces down, so I have another very soft cushioned barstool with a back to it. I wrap myself in my towel, then sit comfortably under this blow heater, which keeps me lovely and warm and dries my hair at the same time! whilst I just sit comfortably and warm.
When I have dried off, I then go sit in my bedroom and rest before dressing. I have to do it this way, because showering seems to take all my energy, and if I am going out somewhere, I shower the day before, that way I haven't used up all my energy before I've left the house.
Excuse the rambling, don't think I have explained it very well. Hope you have all had as good a day as you can.x

Hi everyone I have a shower chair and when I'm having a bad day I will use it. Letting the hot water rain down on the back of your neck and back it seems to help relax them. I usually have to set down to dry off.

Sorry accidentally hit the reply button lol I'm usually given out after the shower it helps me get my second wind back to dress. But it seems like I've gotten where I hate taking a shower I don't understand why I have always taken a shower every day, but now it's like pulling teeth. I hare having to get up and taking a bath it's so hard getting in and out I have not picked up my foot high enough and fell into the shower. Thank God I didn't get hurt. Hope every body has a good restful and pain free night.

Constantly struggle with this and my family thinks it's so odd. Good to hear so many other people feel this way too

By the time I shower, dry off, dress, dry my hair etc. I am soaked in sweat (including my hair) and need another shower! My suggestions are a shower chair for sure. I also recently found dry shampoo which is a miracle. Between that and baby wipes I can freshen up enough not to look or feel gross on days when a shower may as well be a marathon. If I have somewhere to go I try to shower the day before so I can take my time and rest without having anxiety about a deadline. Seriously though, you all have got to try dry shampoo!

MountainMamma, I give myself 3-4 hours to get ready, especially in the morning. Besides the grooming I have to give my bowels time to move, and if they don't I'm praying for no accidents (IBS & incontinence)! Been there, done that...humiliation!

Flappy, I never thought that something like taking a shower would become such an ordeal. Nobody really knows what it's like so it's nice to find this forum where you all have the same experiences and can relate. My stomach was torn and partially paralyzed in a car crash so I spontaneously vomit without warning. Very humiliating for me and I have constant anxiety when I'm in public that it will hit and I won't be able to get to a bathroom or garbage can in time. Hang in there!

I have a hard time drying my hair because i can't hold the hair dryer above my head that long. The girl that cuts my hair recommend a spray that helps my hair dry quicker. Worth every penny.

Lord bless you MountainMamma! Will the nerves ever heal in your stomach? I can't throw up ever since I was intubated for an Ileus in 2010. The bile comes up in my nose and then goes back down. Its awful feeling.

Shammagren I would be very interested to know what that spray to dry your hair faster is! I have very thick hair that takes a long time to dry... I simply can't blow dry it anymore so it looks less than nice these days!

Kenya platinum blow dry spray. Says it reduces blow drying time by 50 percent. It has a pleasant smell and leaves no build up on my hair. I use it even when I don't blow dry and my hair dries faster.
