SI Joint & Hip Socket Pain

Oct 21, 2015 9:35 PM

I was walking on the treadmill earlier and suddenly I felt a pinching pain in the left hip socket, followed by a squeezing, shooting pain down the back of my thigh. It's been happening more and more often over the last two weeks.

About 3-5 minutes later I had a sharp piercing pain in the lumbosacral area, followed by what felt like a electric shock shooting into my buttocks and down my leg. It hurt so bad I froze in place and sucks in my breathe afraid to move or breathe. When it calmed I sat down. My SI joint on the left hurts, along with the lumbosacral area. I literally think I may have ruptured a disc. But my doc told me Monday not to bother returning to them because there's nothing they can do for me!

I'm trying to go to sleep but it hurts. I have to get up at 5 for an early appt. Ugh! 🙏🌼

Feel for you, really do. Hope things subside at least a little so you can at least get a little rest x

I have this on the exact same side, it started after a car accident in 2008, I have tight hip flexors, my physio recently released them for me but they have tightened back up, there are stretches for it though, and the pain down the leg is where the muscles in the butt are pressing on the sciatic nerve

Thanks. I did finally managed to fall asleep, and oddly I slept on the right side without turning over. I rubbed voltaren gel in from my waist to my knees on the back of my left thigh. The weird sensations are gone but I still feel a severe pinch if I lean forward.

But when I got up I was so discombobulated... First I set the alarm off; neighbors weren't thrilled I'm sure. Then I went to put food in the dogs dish but realized I'd gone in the cereal cabinet. And when I went to put my coffee I was holding a plastic drinking cup. Can I just say I apparently didn't sleep off he effects of my nighttime meds! Lol 🙏🌼

Flappsy, I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you. I know when I get that all too familiar "twinge" when I'm doing something I have to be extremely mindful of how I move after that. I sure can feel your pain with the SI Joint Disfunction. You may have sustained a fracture. I would suggest that you try your back brace and see if the additional support helps. Sending you gentle {{{{Hugs}}}} and prayers my friend. Hang in there and I hope that your appointment goes well for you.🙏🏻🌻

AlwayZ, I've gained too much weight to fit the back brace! Lol I'm taking it easy today. Thanks! 🙏🌼

Sounds like sciatica. Do you have a chiropractor?

Flappsy.. I hear you loud and clear!! The same has happened to me. Hope you're feeling better my friend. Sending love, {{{Hugs}}} and prayers your way!! 💕🙏🏻🌻

Definitely improved today! I had PT and omg, at the possess for stretching I had to make! It's a good thing the sciatica had stopped.

Aliya, I have a chiropractor but haven't seen her in 2 years because of a year in one of my discs. The Ortho and pain specialist told me it was too dangerous. I'm thinking of going anyway now, since the Ortho doc says he can't do anything for me! 🙏🌼

Amcginnis, in PT I did stretches that they said is going to loosen up the muscles that go from the lumbosacral down the buttock and back of the legs. Maybe you can try them.

1).Sit slightly reclined and bend knees up. Then put one hand behind the knee and the hand opposite to the leg on the outside of the knee & pull the leg towards the other side of the body. Hold to 20, rest, repeat 3-4 times. Pull only until you feel tension pull in the gluten muscles in he buttock.

2) Sit on the edge of a bed or sofa, one leg resting on the bed/sofa straight out & the the other leg resting with foot on floor. Sit straight up. Point toes towards body then lean forward at the hips until you just feel the pull in the muscles of the leg & buttocks. Don't hump your back, make sure to keep it straight. Hold to count of 20, rest, repeat 3-4x.

Don't pull to the point of pain. I've been doing these this week, daily, and its actually loosening the muscles around my lumbosacral area. She also has me standing and lifting one leg to the side, back, and front 10-15x each. It's a lot harder because I have to stand, which hurts my legs and trunk anyway. If you can't do the whole count just do what you can. She warned me not to overstretch or do too many. Good luck! 🙏🌼
